Torqameda said:Excellent idea. Will SE ever consider? Hell no. It would cost too much money to update the server and game to do something like that. They are penny-pinchers, which is understandable, because it costs multitudes of dollars to run the game in the first place, let alone perform a massive update on the game.
Yea but for the 1200+ players on each server times the 32 active servers, times $12.95 at LEAST (not including mules, tetra master, etc.)
Thats $497,280 a month. Not including the mules, tetra master and anything else that is optional. So we can average it to about $500,000 a month.
Then there is the revenue they get from other SE items. But I dont believe that would pour over into FFXI.
At half a million a month, I would assume that the server maintenence, GM payroll (if they have one), POL maintenence etc. doesn't take up the full $500,000.
You would think that after so many years of this game running that they could devote SOME of that revenue to new ideas without having to release an expansion pack.
I do realize that quite a bit of money went into Treasures of Aht Urhgan and its advertising, but when not working on an expansion, a full hearty update wouldnt hurt all that bad.
I cant really comment on the chocobo update until it actually gets here so until then, this is my stance.
