Dear ADV,

Please, don't fuck this up.

This could potentially be the best anime your company ever acquires the license for.

Please, put at least half the effort into this as you did with mediocre anime series like Kurumi.

Please, take the time and expense to get the voice actors that did the first Evangelion dub. If Gainax can do it over a decade after the original broadcast, you can do it too.

There are a lot of fans who will pay good money to buy a solid hi-def copy of this. Please, do them justice and put a proper amount of effort into it.

Thank you,

Celvantes

The first OVA is already out :P

Usually I don't buy anime Evangelion is an exception, but I too will buy a good hi-def copy of this movie if ADV doesn't screw it up >_>

Where did you see ADV got the license? I thought it was still unlicensed.

So it's just a recut of existing anime, is it going to be new story, or is it just a retelling of the same story? I can't say this excites me too much.

From what I understand ( i still need to watch the first one) it is the recut of the same anime with some additional scenes. And the ending will be changed.

Based on the trailer, it is looks like it is a re-do of the original animation using current technology (I believe it was mostly hand-drawn back when it first came out).

No, I have not seen it, and I won't until it has been dubbed. I first saw Evangelion in English and I want this experience to be the same. This holds true *especially* with the higher quality animation: I don't want to spend my time reading subtitles when I could be looking elsewhere.

No, I don't think ADV has the license, but I seriously doubt anyone else would get it. They dubbed the original and I believe they have exclusive contract over some of the original VAs (Gendo comes to mind). Possibly, Amanda Winn-Lee's company might get the nod to produce it the same way they did End of Evangelion. If so, I hope they do a better job... the dubbing of EoE was good, but it could have been a lot better. Winn-Lee did a great job of making sure they remastered all the audio for 6.1 systems, but she missed some basics (like changing the pronunciation of Eva from "A-vah" to "Eh-vah").

This is the anime equivalent to Squeenix re-making Final Fantasy VII for the PS3. I really hope they do it right.
