Beenthinking of playing with rdm/nin for tank in situations where there is little to no support for my pld/nin. If my math is right a rdm/nin can cap reacast with just haste spell and FC/Haste gear alone IF the FC effect on recast is set on start of spell meaning i can start spell in af head and relic body for -10% recast, but finish spell in turban and goliard for 9%haste. Which with other haste gear and spell should easily land me over cap in full haste/FC gear for a 21s recast on utsu ni XD.

This is what I was told:

You have 11% haste on listed gear, 11% fastcast, +24% haste (turban, body, haste spell)

You want .5=.89*(1-haste)
.5=.89-.89haste
.39=.89haste
haste=.39/.89=.438
So, you need ~44% haste to cap recasts. You have 35% now, meaning you need 9% more. 1glove, 2 waist, 3 leg is all I can think of, which still won't cap you. Really, you just need a bard. ^^

It's impossible to cap recasts solo.

nashira legs are +2.

clown subligar can be augmented from ANNM with +3

well i didnt list all the gear i had in my mind sorry, but rdm can use sentinel shield for 1%, dusk hands and feet for 3/2% swift belt for 4, nash legs for 2, turban 5, goliard body for 4, wich is 21% from gear. And i thought u needed 50% total deduction for cap, wich means only need 29% haste since fastcast gives u 21% unless it caps out somewhere.

It's not really that fast cast caps anywhere, it's the way the game handles recast reduction.

With the gear you listed, if you begin casting in chapeau/tabard and end in haste gear, it'll reduce it by:

Recast=(1-haste)(1-fastcast)
With 36 from haste and gear/11 from fast cast base rate
(1-.36)(1-.11)= .64*.89 = .5696 = 43% total reduction

Still need 7% from gear to cap, impossible.

The setup I use doesn't involve swapping to turban/goliard, I use sent shield 1, dusk gloves 3, swift 4, dusk feet +1 3. = 11%
I get:
26 from haste and 21 from fast cast
(1-.26)(1-.21) = .74*.79 = .5846 = 41% total reduction

Let's say you have dusk gloves +1 velocious belt and clown's sub with haste+3 (haste gear+26%)

41 haste/11 fast cast
(1-.41)(1-.11) = .59*.89 = .5251 = 47% total reduction

Still 3% short of 50% recast even with the best gear

Has any 1 recieved haste augs from fov on gear slots that normally have no haste option? Seems like a way to lower that 3%.

Even if there were another piece of gear with 3%, 26% is the cap for equipment and that last 3% has to come from another source. Since you have the spell Haste on you already, the only source is March.

I haven't seen any FOV haste gear that's great for rdm, but I have seen Haste +2 on both Wyvern Helm and Warwolf belt.

forgot fast cast loq. earring unless i missed that in skimming

Nope, I included it.

The bolded for my recast setup says 21 Fast Cast. Lemme break it down. 5 from Warlock's Chapeau, 5 from Duelist's Tabard, 10 from Fast Cast Tier III and 1 from Loquacious earring. = 21.

At lv76 RDM gets another tier of Fast Cast. This brings the base recast of -10% to -12.5% and casting time from 20% to 25%.

Let's add this new tier with the best recast gear. Say you have dusk gloves +1 velocious belt and clown's sub with haste+3 (haste gear+26%)

41 haste/13.5 fast cast
(1-.41)(1-.135) = .59*.865 = .51035 = 48% total reduction

Still impossible to cap recast solo. ; ;

FC grip and abyssea augmented jeweled collar (I think +1 is the highest seen so far), puts us at 49%. Still not capped, but 1% closer...

I'm not sure how much the FC grip gives yet. It's questionable because Sentinel Shield already has Haste +1%.

I've seen an augmented collar with +3 though.

With Haste+41% and a FC+3 collar, recast will be capped at 50%.

there's a MMM belt that gives +2 to fastcast comes from training the goblin

Doesn't come anywhere close to v.belt, really; Swift beats it very comfortably as well.

From what I gather reading this they're implying that you switch gear mid casting and get both effects, which I've never tried but enough people believe it possible.

i think its very possible something that is funny with me and recasts is having the gear on before casting the spell or equipping the gear at the same time for casting the spell I have gotten fluctuations on recast with haste/refresh by doing this

ie start casting the spell and equipping the gear that reduces recast at the same time vs equipping the gear beforehand and casting the spell

sometimes its different sometimes its not only time i actually cycle haste and refresh is during dynamis since its the only event i go rdm to anymore and it could be lag interferring with that albeit a small amount since my comp runs pretty fast and ffxi is a old game now...

wish i could say for sure one or the other as far as what you're saying tauro I'm 90% sure its possible I just havent adapted my macros to do this; reason I believe is that I've equipped fast cast at mid cast and not see a earlier proc in completing the spell.

Now equipping fast cast then casting the spell then swapping to the most efficient form of recast gear I believe isnt possible if fast cast and haste work the same in regards to wearing before casting.

Wish I could be more thorough and complete on my answer to that but I dont solo enough to care nor do I have the need to make sure haste/refresh is on the lowest timer possible,although I do use a lot of fast cast/haste for them I dont use dusk hands and feet due to movement and having to switch gear just to take it off which pending situation and how many other rdms there are in your event can be a nuisance and interrupt what you're doing.

ie the less rdms there are for an event the more busier you'll be more than likely

by all means for solo and utsu/ss(as long as you cap it) whore that haste/fast cast.

oops looks like i went on a rant again lol

You may use any Fast Cast equipment to begin casting a spell. Let's say you begin casting in Warlock's Chapeau and switch to Walahra Turban before the spell goes off. This way both Fast Cast and Haste are used in the same equip slot. The spell casts faster and it's cooldown timer is shorter. However, if Fast Cast gear is switched before the spell goes off, you only retain the casting time bonus, you don't get the recast bonus.

The reason people do this, is because even Goliard Saio's Haste+4% gives a lower recast than Duelist's Tabard.

What Taur is trying to say, you may reduce casting time in the MMM belt, then switch to a Haste belt to reduce recast time.
