Receiving AF weapons

Just a quick question, is it possible to get all the CS's for AF weapon, and then go fight the NM(s) as a different, higher lv job? Or do I need to be that same job (that uses the af weapon) to spawn the NM(s)?

You only need to be the correct job when you start the quest. (the first CS) after that, you can finish quest as any job, even receaving AF/weapon.

Same goes for the rest of your AF *quests*. Start them with that job and go do with another.
This goes for coffer hunting the "Old Gauntlets" aswell, since this is a quest.

The 2 coffers that give you your AF piece right away you must be on the right job though.

There are certain parts of certain AF quests that require you to be on the correct job for it (BLM has to Manafont, DRG has to have wyvern out, think THF has something too with the tower-climbing?) but as a general rule it's as Reko said - only have to be the correct job for flagging the four quests and for opening the two non-quest coffers that give AF directly.
