I can agree with both of these statements. SE should be taking bigger steps to ensure the safety of their own goddamn investments (us). End-users should be more careful about what sites they go on (Why the fuck do people still go on Somepage anyways? Hasn't it not been updated for like a year or something?), and take care to regularly scan/clean their computer with the appropriate software (set it up as a scheduled task or something). Even then, I know, we're still not 100% safe.
It really makes me mad that this is still happening. That hackers can't find anything better to do with their time than fuck up someones good time on a goddamn video game. How about just fucking getting a ton of synthing mules and doing that whole bit again? Why torture people like this? Can't they track these motherfuckers anywhere? My sympathy goes out to those I do, and do not, know that have had this happen to them.
I'm not saying people shouldn't be wary of sites that are known to be the cause of accounts being hacked. We're both on the same page about that. It's just that at some point, the company providing the service for you have to actually keep this under control. They're lucky enough to still have 500,000 dedicated subscribers. Most companies understand that... well, most people are dumb. Preserving those "dumb" subscribers is the only way they'll stay afloat.
