After we lost the candy yesterday, myself & Lecan threw together a ragtag alliance to try and get it back. I had to leave after a couple hours for CoP so I'm not sure how the rest of the hunt went, but there's one thing I really didnt understand.

I was guiding us from the directions off FFXIclopedia (do a Search for "astral", check the 3rd or 4th link that shows up - should be called "Astral Candescence". I'd direct link but the site is blocked at my office). Getting to the BC was relatively straightforward, to a degree, but what I was lost on was the key items needed to enter the BC.

This page says that you kill mobs around the BC, and they drop the key item. Can I get a W, T, F /cheer? Do they drop it a la Dynamis, i.e. ???'s pop at their corpse? Or does it just say something along the lines of "Obtained: Key Item" when you kill the right mob?

On top of that, does everyone in the alliance get it at the same time or does each person have to get theirs individually?

We managed to make it to one of the supposed BC's in Arrapago Reef, but after killing about 10 shadows (the only mobs between the 2 zone lines), we still saw nothing (had at least 2x TH2 in the alliance, possibly a TH3). We started heading elsewhere but that's when I had to leave.

My understanding is that you'll get the Merrow Homunculus from any merrow in Arrapago, and the Lamia Homunculus from any lamia in Arrapago. And you'll just get the obtained key item message upon the mob's death, for all alliance members in the zone. Kinda like the White/Red/Black Cards from Aw'euvhis for Limbus (your current CoP mission suggests you haven't gotten to that yet, though I imagine you know a few people who have, who can explain that further).

Only difference is that the key items in this case are only forked over if the beastmen of that zone have the candycane, and the key items disappear upon zoning (which also includes tractor, logging out, and d/c).

Crap, so I guess we were at the wrong part of the zone. We were standing near the COR AF3 BCNM, the directions led us there but I probably misinterpreted a "go straight" as "turn around 16 times, hang a right, get aggro by 2 dozen lamia, then take the nearest zone".

Thanks, next time I'll tell them to do the right thing and not follow me.
