After having my 360 for just a few months it Red Ringed on me lastnight.

Thank god Gamestop is open on X-mas Eve.

Wasn't there a recent hardware change to the 360 that was supposed to reduce/eliminate RRoD in the new consoles??

Yes. And he obviously purchased an older model 360;;.

EDIT: I guess i cant say its obvious... There is still a chance for RRoD on the new systems, just greatly reduced. Maybe you are just that unlucky? Is it an older model?

It was one of the Newer ones.

the power connector on your 360, which one of these do you have?
if you have a Jasper and RRoD, then you would be the first. The chances of a Jasper getting red ring are slim to none, Ive studied the mobo and all the changes are pretty much perfection for keeping that from happening, and all heat as been brough down tremendously, 65NM chip and all.

ok apparently when all 4 rings are lit up its an error, and 3 rings is rrod i found that out and i have fixed the issus, and yes i do have a jasper, the error was with the 360 not reading the disk and i had to get a new FFXI CD.

All 4 quadrants lit means that your AV/component cables aren't plugged in to either your 360 or your TV, iirc.

yep, your cable wasnt plugged in all the way or something, we have this error come up where i work alot, and though i work in food, i get calls about 360 questions all the time from those who actually work in electronics (maybe i should move over there), and most of the time its not an RROD and i can show them what they were doing wrong, its usually a loose cable.

Side question: Whats the easiest way to request repair?

My xbox RROD'd a few days ago, but it strangely came back to life, but only to give me another two days of play before dying again.

Also: Anyone have their xbox die by freezing up and and then placing green lines over the screen?
(funny note: Both times my xbox froze and died, I was playing Gears of War 2.)

it means your video card in the xbox is burning out, one of the main causes of RRoD

I've had my screen freeze in a checkerboard grid kind of fashion. I powered down and let it cool off. I thought for sure the 3 red rings were coming but in ~2 years since that happened it is still kicking.
