That part is true. I never did get 60 on my thief though. SA also guaranteed TA to get off when stacked. The damage from TA was always "normal" damage until assassin which is why it would be stacked with SA to guarantee the hit would land. I thought assassin guaranteed the TA to land, but I guess I was wrong. But at 60+ using sushi it isn't hard to miss.
You know me, I'm a grumpy old bugger. My blist is toooo long. Just checked it. I haven't got a clue who 90% of them are.

SA: Triggers if mob's facing more or less directly away from you (i.e. you hit in behind), *or* if you have no enmity and you're also under the effect of Hide (and you can attack from any direction in this case); no effect if neither of the above is true. Guaranteed to hit, guaranteed to crit, adds your DEX to weapon DMG or something like that.
TA pre-Assassin: Triggers if someone is between you and the mob, no effect if not. Transfers the hate from the attack to the person between you and the mob, adds your AGI to weapon DMG.
TA post-Assassin: Same as TA pre-Assassin, but now has the guaranteed hit and guaranteed crit that SA had too.
SATA: Have to fulfill *both* qualifications. Guaranteed hit, guaranteed crit, adds DEX *and* AGI to weapon DMG, transfers hate to the person between you and the mob.
Upshot:
Pre-Assassin, for non-WS or for WS, solo TA is kinda useless, which is why SATA is used for TA purposes. SATA, however, usually involves the headache of an initial voker, which is of course an entirely different subject (in a nutshell: sucks with incompetent people, good with competent people).
Post-Assassin, for non-WS, it's better to split up SA and TA so you can get *two* beefy crit hits, and so you can pile DEX for SA and AGI for TA rather than have to try to squeeze both in.
Post-Assassin, for WS, you're still better off with SATA, but if SATA is a nuisance to set up then either SA or TA (preferably TA, particularly if hate shifts a lot) alone is sufficient for most purposes.

Kudos, to be certain. ^^
I'd only make one correction. Pre-Assassin TA, isn't modified by AGI. The AGI mod to TA damage is something that Post-Assassin TA brings to the table. Pre-Assassin, if you had a party/ally in between you and the MOB, and it connected, delivers a non-modified crit and does transfer that hate to the person between you and the MOB.
The reason for the difference in TA versus SA damage prior to Assassin, is because the Pre-Assassin TA is not receiving a bonus to damage, while SA is receiving that bonus based on the DEX attribute.
Post-Assassin TA: (when performed properly)
1. Guaranteed Hit
2. AGI Modified critical damage
As for when and how to use your job abilities and weapon skills, and in what combinations, I would say that is something for everyone to figure out and decide. The answer, as is with many things in this game, is "situational". There are many dependencies that will drive a THF's minute-by-minute (or less) decisions. Depending on the scenario, one option may be better than another...Other times that same option might be wasteful. Generally speaking, I find it best not to sit on job abilities or TP any longer than I have to. THF uses low base damage weapons and relies on speed and effective and efficient use of TP and job abilities to keep up ( and surpass :nyam: ) with other melee. You will do well as THF to approach each situation as a different one from the last.
TA isnt normal damage. It does increase it, but not a crit. I noticed when douin in Jungle with a friend, i would TA him for about 30-50 DMG, but when i would normally swing i would hit for about 15. I don't really know though i could be wrong and it would only add hate untill you got assassin.

I can never stop laughing when someone ends up on here twice. That typically means that other people don't follow my rule: If someone is on here for pulling some serious shit (Not: OMGZ SHE CAN'T HOLD REFRESH ORDER WOWZORZ!!!") then you do not let them in your party. If you do, you're just as much at fault as they are. I think that's a pretty sound rule, imho.

ok for 1. my Ta's clear 100, a noob would know its impossible to do 10 on a crit hit+ the dmg on a monster im not even supposed to be fighting at that lvl, dont be scared to go lvl in the real places ur supposed to with higher monsters, and keep the lies smart, not stupid.
2. i had emp equiped and switched to rr gear cus some dumb fuck pulled when i pulled and i tried to save ur party and perfect dodged tanked the other one, u were just mad cus i got rr2 and the rest of the party for raise 1, i play smart and rr2 myself if i know the party is gonna die cus of some dumb fuck not saying u are, who ever pulled the 2nd one is
3. i cant use that hop dagger until i lvl up to it dumb fuck, wait now i am calling you a dumb fuck.
4. i got raises for all ur party i could of just left like an ass, but know im over her begging the fucking japs to raise u guys.
5. all those tells u siad u sent me? why u gotta lie so make urself look good?
6. i dc'ed cus my connection was bad, came back and it was still looking bad, so i said sorry for all that happened and the arguement and said ima leave now cus we stay on good terms (well after getting all the raises and bringing the ldr his food and pet supplies which he should have on hand, i thought we were on good terms) but i guess he doesnt have anything better to do with his time but to cry to a bunch of ppl about how his video game is upsetting him.

Not responding to the other points because it's a he-said she-said sorta thing. But in this case, I find it a bit suspicious that you're conveniently not mentioning the OP's claim that you were promptly seeking party again as soon as you were back in town. (If it weren't true, after all, you'd be vehemently denying it happened like you did with the rest of your responses.)

TA does add ur AGI to ur DMG of ur wep, and transfers the hate of all that damage to the person between u and the mob, but when u miss TA (like if the nin wont stop running in circles when ur doing it, like that party) theres a big chance of not landing the attack all along, and if u do land it, it will suck. i know how to play my job any questions about thf, i can answer

Yes i admit i was seeking party, on a bad connection. so i got another party and we were waiting for the 6th and my connection was hella bad but im only 1300 tnl, but the connection is just getting out of hand so i tell the ldr whats going on and tell him im sorry, he says its ok and i disband and go solo

I'm confused. You say you were being the nice guy in the first party, but you DC'd because of a bad connection...then seeked for another party with the same bad connection.
Why did you leave the first party in the first place if you just wanted to get your level, since your connection was going to be bad either way?

You were level 68. There were L66s in the party killing the Catoblepas just fine. Additionally, you were using a D22, 80k knife and refused to acknowledge (AND STILL DO) why you don't use the 5k, D32 Hoplite's Harpe. Try again.
You did mug/steal mid-XP and hid on the party. You did PD but only once 2/6 were dead and everyone but yourself was in the red. You didn't try to save anyone but yourself. You had RR pin on thirty minutes after the wipe. Believe it or not, people can actually check your gear more than once per party! All the same, I wasn't terribly miffed by the hairpin thing, I could've easily missed you correct this issue. All the same, next.
Oh, here's why you didn't use a Hoplite's Harpe: because a L68 Thief can't use L68 Daggers! Wait, what?...

You left because your "connection was bad" but instantly flagged to seek when you hit town, so obviously your connection wasn't the issue here. I believe it's you throwing a tantrum because the leader asked you to use DE instead of your bullsh-!t 120 damage Shark Bites. The NIN was very rarely able to hold hate off my WSes, and sadly enough, even with you around the issue remained the same. If the THF isn't doing anything good, know who's fault that typically is...? Figure it out.

Gonna stop and use a moment of reason. Maybe I misread your level and you were 66, though I could've sworn you were 68- I dunno, my eyes aren't all that great. But in which case, I'd hafto say I'm quite sorry for that. However, the weapon you used wasn't really the main part of my flame to begin with - you refused to reply to any advice (seriously, at least get a Garuda's dagger if nothing else) and warped out when given a simple request. Even moreso that you lash out with your reply not even me, but the entire forum in regard to the post I made about you.
You could've said the XP wasn't good enough, or the mobs had too high defense for you (eh). It wouldv'e been perfectly fine. But leaving because something gave you connection issues yet some other party wouldn't, as well as it seeming you left simply because you were asked to do Dancing Edge (Why the HELL would that even be a big deal?) - that's why I'm flaming you. You're 1/6 of a party, and your rights in that party at proportionate to such. Don't like it? Go solo EPs.
