I just put a clean slate to my computer and now I'm trying to get the internet back on it. when I open internet explorer, I get some instructions but every one of them I went through doesn't seem to be working.

I'm using a wireless router.

Basically I open the browser > Tools > Internet Options... > Connections tab:

I then get "To set up an internet connection click Setup" with a setup tab next to it. At the bottom I have a Local Area Network settings part with a LAN settings tab next to that. I've played in both choosing all options and can't seem to find my router.

I also tried Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections where I then get:

1. Set up or change your Internet Connection

2. Create a connection to the network at your work place

3. Set up or change your home or small office network

4. Set up a wireless netowrk for a home or small office

5. Change windows firewall settings

#1 gives me what I have above, #2 prompts me for either dial-up or Virtual Private Network connection. Not going there, lol. #3 asks to install network cards, modems, cables... that can't be it.

It's #4 where I'm pretty sure I need to be in, but everything I did has had no effect. When I open it it asks either to set up a new wireless network or add new computers or devices to my network. I already set up a new wireless network and got all the new information down including my SSID name, Network key I was assigned, etc. When I click add new computers or devices to my network, it recommends a flash drive or set up manually. When I click manually, it just tells me to manually input the info at a wireless access point and on each additional computer.

Frustration. I have internet on my Mac and Ps3.

#4 is mainly used for adhoc networks but will also work.

Best thing to do is bypass the internet setup on windows side, and go directly to your router's IP and configure it from within.

Then just connect to the wireless AP (via network connections) and you'll be fine.

can you go to control panel > network connections and see your wireless card? other wise go to device manager and make sure windows has a driver for the wireless card then just tell it to connect to a wireless network using windows wireless manager.

Turns out I had no drivers installed. I called my ISP and they told me and then I just dug through a bunch of cd's to find it. Thanks for the help, I'm all set up now.
