Regarding Rare/ex and casting lots

Elemmire, your talking about the aspis sheild when you were Kuftal Tunnel... I was the rdm on the other party so I did lot on it and unfortunately I lost.... maybe you can explain why the war/nin in your party also lotted on the same sheild he couldn't use?
 
I remember how pissed off Shiia was that his RDM lost the lot on the Aspis shield. Who won it, some WHM... what does a WHM need with a +INT shield. Pandoras or something. Stupid. I didn't lot on it as my BLM even, because I'd honestly never use it. I like my staves too much.
 
no WAR/NIN lotted on it.. atleast if I remember.. and if she did.. I'll bite her head about it <_<
 
i was the one that lotted on the astral aepis and won.

my thf was lvl 69 at the time.
my rdm is lvl 10, blm lvl 30, whm lvl 30, smn lvl 1, brd lvl 4

i plan to lvl my redmage after my thf, but thats not really why i lotted.

here is what happened and why i lotted.

a member of the rdm's pt sends me a tell saying their rdm forced their smn to pull Pelican. this was a lvl 69 pt with a pld btw. the smn did not want to pull but the rdm insisted and said that they could defeat the NM. well their pld dies, and then another member dies. their pt leader, which was a friend of mine, allianced my pt. All of a sudden i hear in /say "Alliance?" from a member in the other pt. It seems our help wasn't appreciated, maybe they thought they could kill the nm with 4 people and no tank? Pelican had over 50% hp when this happened, and their tank and one more was dead....

my pt came in and kicked Pelican's butt (the very next day we defeated Pelican again with everyone in my pt being the same lvl, we're a static). there was no prearranged aggrement on lot. we got no thankyous for saving the other pt's butts. all i heard was, "If you cannot use the shiled pass." this to me was rude and pissed me off.

Now my intention was to kill Pelican so one of the mages in my static could get the shield. I told my mages that if they won the lot I would pass lot, but if they lost to the other pt i would lot.

here are my reasons for my lotting on the item to recap.

1. My pt was not thanked for helping another PT out.
2. We had no aggreement on lotting.
3. I was told to pass impolietly.
4. My pt did the killing.
5. I will definately use the item in the future.

Now, here are reasons that would have prevented me from lotting...

1. My pt getting thanked for helping the other PT out.
2. If I was asked nicely by someone not lotting on the item to allow only mages to lot on item.
3. If my friend in the other pt stuck up for his ptmates and asked me to pass.

People who know me in game will know I am not greedy and like to help other people out. But they also know that I have zero tolerance for idiots and rude people. Not to say that the original poster is a rude person, but I felt that she was so worried bout getting the item instead of thanking everyone involved. I dont like to help people who dont appreciate the help....

anyway, now you know how to get along with me ^^
 
Personally I think if you can't use an item right off (or within the next few lvls) why be greedy and lot for it now when somebody else can use it now? That just seems pretty petty to me and I would never do it. Goes along with whether you need it or not too. Sure PLDs can wear that Assault Jerkin but all the times I've had it drop I've never lotted on it.

And Aye.../shakes head...this reminds me of the time you won the lot on that Dainslaif and then tossed it...

ooo that reminds me of the time i * a lvl 58 whm * lotted and won on an assualt jerkin! even tho i cant use it, i just keep it around for one day incase i might lvl my lv1 drg, sure looks pretty on my maniquine too =).........

erm no... that never happened because it would be just plain stupid O.o;;... thats... angering Aye... me as a mage see's nice value in some thing like that sheild ~.~;; why would u take it from other mages? when u cant use it...

and your statments double back on themselfs... its like saying "ill be nice if you all pat me on the back for being nice" ~.~; fuzzy logic go!... what if i refused to raise pplz unless they said "thx" before i cast raise? usualy gotta say it after >.> even then some pplz dont, but it doesnt bother me, cuz i just like to help pplz out ^^

People should keep in mind their inventory is limited, and collecting all rare/ex items in one account is impossible. Also, the more you collect, the more mules you will need to stock your other junks. If no agreement is made, I use my logic to determinate if I will possibly use the item in the future, and how close to the bottom of my tossing list this item would be. For all purpose items like assault jerkin I would probably lot it even if I don't got any melee job over 30, because there is no chance for me to drop it and I will eventually probably need one. That's only fair to be able to lot on it if melees are too greedy to say: "If you want jerkin you can't lot on whisker, if you don't want jerkin you can lot on whisker but not jerkin", they usually want both the gils and jerkin and then ask the mages to only lot for the gils
 
blah.. I didn't force em >< I asked em if they wanted to try >< blah.. whatever.. I asked my LS if we would be able to take it (and 4 or so were lvl 70 and only 2 were lvl 69..) and I gave them the party set up and such and they said that we should be able to take it but it'll be a tough fight (which it was) and I told my party this... I asked if everyone wanted to take it.. no one objected.. If someone did I wouldn't have cared at all... I've seen NMs pop in places like when I was leveling in Gustav there was a NM called Taxim that popped... drops a rare/ex staff for PLD/MNK/WHM and other jobs... we all agreed to take it (the first party I was in) and so we took it on and won.. another party I was in later that day it popped and we decided not to take it.. no bother to me either way... it was the same exp as the stuff we were leveling on with 5000 gil drop (yay) and other things that were decent and would have been nice to kill but I didn't care... I didn't force them to do anything <_< and that's not the only time I'm talking about when I say "Rare/ex" that was annoying but your party did help out.. it was just recent on my mind.. but things like this have happened to me and others. Things like with the assault jerkin... I knew I could use it but considering I was a RDM I didn't have any real use for it in a level up party so I tended to pass on it most of the time... I think I lotted on it about 2 times out of the 7 it dropped... and those lots sucked anyways so meh... if I really want it now then I'll go to Onzozo and solo the NM for it... but anyways.. this wasn't a section directed at you Ayeka so please don't take offense ><
 
haha dont worry, as far as i'm concerned its a dead subject.
