Registration Code Woes

Hey, i've got a question for the people at large.

Previous to the month of April, I played on an account I shared with my room mate. We had two chars on the same account, blah blah blah, not the item in question.

When April rolled around, one of our friends purchased FFXI for his 360' console and decided to make a new account. He deleted his old char on his PS2, and said I could have the old account.

This was all well and good until I tried to purchase another content ID. It'd been so long since I had to do this, I was bewildered when it came time to put in the FFXI Registration Code to purchase the ID.

I call said friend, and it turns out he's since lost the manual with the codes in it. Worse still, he never wrote them down anywhere else.

So my questions are these.

1) Is there anyway to purchase a content ID without having to put in the Registration code? (I think not, and likely know I cant, but it cant hurt to ask.)

2) Is there any way I can figure out my Registration code, through some kind of checking with PlayOnline or anything? I know they explicitly say that no replacement codes will be issued, but damnit. I just want my original code!

3) Barring all else, is there any way of getting a -new- Registration code for my game, without purchasing an entirely new game and creating a whole new account?

Any and all help would be appreciated in this matter. I know that, very likely, i'm up the creek without a paddle. But maybe someone knows something I dont.

Oh, also, another insignificant question.

Is there any way to transfer a character from one account to another? I'd heard of this happening before, but I heard it involved a lot of phone calls and hair pulling. Is this true, and if so, how might I go about doing it?

Not that I know of. I'm pretty sure that your answer to this one is a big "no."

This is a fairly common problem. I hate to say it, but the only thing you're going to get out of this is a very valuable lesson that it's not a good idea to share your "MMO stuff" with someone else; a single account is very much meant to be a one-person show. It's even worse to "loan" an account to somebody (which I know you didn't do). If they don't take care of it, or abuse it, you can't "un-do" anything they did.

At any rate, if he lost the codes, you're not going to be told what they were, to prevent account theft.

Again, no, there isn't. :/

I believe a new service was just launched to make this more available to the subscriber base at large, but as with other MMORPGs, you've got to pay for it. EDIT: Never mind, I thought you were talking about a server transfer. I don't think it's "oficially" possible to transfer characters between accounts at all. Even if it is possible by pulling strings and going through back-doors, it won't be easy.




Again, I'm genuinely sympathetic to you, because you don't really have a lot of options open aside from purchasing a new game. Even if you do that, you may have to start over with a new acount to make the codes that you get work for multiple Content IDs on one account. I'm not sure. Let's hope it'll work.

You might want to wait until the next special edition is launched before buying. It should include the new expansion with it. Good luck.

Call Customer Support with all the info you have (Credit Card details, POL ID etc) and see what they can do for you...

You can't transfer characters between accounts (although someone's friends, aunts, third cousin's dog always managed to...).

I am in the EXACT same situation. I went to make another mule a few months ago, but lost the registration code. I called SE and talked with them twice, and another time in an online chat room. They assured me that you can NOT get that code back, which in my book is complete bullshit.

I said i could provide my POL ID and PW, SS#, Birth Certificate, Payment information, first born child, whatever the hell was needed. BIG FAT NO... ; ;

They will not give you your registration codes... but you can use a new registration code on an old account. This does mean you will have to rebuy the origional game, but you do not have to make a new account with it.

The only thing i am unsure of is whether or not the registration of expansion packs will cover the new content IDs, or if you will have to get another copy of those as well.

Thanks for the input you guys. I didnt have my hopes set too high anyhow lol. I'll just wait till the new bundle pack comes out and buy 'em all and just set that up lol. I can wait the million billion hours it'll take to update.
