Curious if anyone knows how I could go about undoing installation of a program called "Registry Edit" which makes your backround resolution go to 2084?

I recently installed this to improve my graphic resolutions, but ever since I have had the worst lag and I believe it to be because of this (probably pushing my computer to its limits because it probably can't handle it)

The only way I've heard that you can undo this is to re-install the game, which I really don't want to do so if anyone who has used the program knows of another way to undo it, please let me know.

I have dynamis tonight and if i'm sitting at 6fps in a Kazham, i'm afraid to know what my fps is going to be like in Dynamis x_x

reopen the registry and set the values back to thier originals? duno, never bothered with edits, since i'm content with how it looks now.

This was a program you installed? I have done the manual edits in the registry myself to crank up the res. Easy to undo but in terms of and installed program that does it automatically for you? .... To coin a phrase we use at Bell Sympatico a lot - Go see a tech... I kid

Gimme some info: Where did you get the program? When did you install it?

The program I downloaded was called "2048.reg"

Basically, when I installed it I got this:

"Are you sure you want to add the information in <location of where I saved it to> to the registry?"

So I answered yes, and then it brought up the next window saying:

"Information in <location of where I saved it to> has been successfully entered into the registry".

So if I wanted to manually reset the registry, where and how can I do that?

.REG is just the registry settings saved into a file. The link I PMed you will allow you to correct the settings, or you can simply correct them by running the FFXI Config program and make any kind of change to the resolution settings which will over write the values you imported from the .REG file.

Start » Run » regedit

Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

PlayOnlineUS
SquareEnix
FinalFantasyXI

On the right side, look for some blue-icon values with the "name" of 0003 and 0004.

When you double-click these, you'll see 800 as the values (if you don't, ensure "Hexadecimal" is selected on the right). Change this to 400, or 600 if you're feeling brave.

Note you must change both 0003 and 0004.

anything deleted in the registry cannot be recovered without a reinstallation

I go to help some old lady set up firmware in her modem and fly steals my thunder ; ;

Or..

Just use the FFXI Config program and set it back to one of the ones on the list. All the program does is automatically modified the registry keys.

Hey, the same thing happened to me zer...

DAMN YOU ALY!!!!

Start > All Programs > Playonline > Final Fantasy XI > Final Fantasy XI Config

You should be able to change resolutions there and that will overwrite the regedits. At least it does when you change them manually. I've never used a program to change them before.

I don't know what's wrong. It works fine for me. I've been using it since windower came out (a long freaking time). Though, I do have a pretty powerful computer. D:

Not quite. If system restore points are enabled on the computer (which is the default for Windows XP), there will be copies of the registry in the (usually) C:\System Volume Information\ directory, which is hidden. You can go to start > programs > accessores > system tools > system restore, and you can roll the registry back to any of the dates listed.

If it makes ya feel any better, it seems to work fine for me.

I'm not sure, it is likely just that my pc couldn't handle it. Either way, I figured out how to access my registry edit for FFXI, and I compared my numbers with my bf Xean and just used his numbers and everything works again... but I think the backround resolution of "2084" is now gone.

I'll play with it later now that I know where to find the registry edit :)

This is the easyest way to fix your problem.

Sorry it didn't work for you Zer. ; ;

Nah, my computer is pretty old and my video card is out of date as well, good thing FFXI on its own has low system requirements. I could tell things looked a lot smoother with the thing added to the registry, I'd just rather not have any lag.
