ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando authorities said Friday that DNA tests confirm the skeletal remains recently found in the woods belong to missing toddler Caylee Anthony, who had been missing since June.

A county medical examiner said at a news conference that the remains match Caylee’s DNA profile, and that the death is considered a homicide.

A utility worker stumbled upon the remains last week, less than a half-mile from where the girl lived.

Caylee’s mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was indicted in October on first-degree murder and other charges, even without a body.

A search team said they did not check the wooded area sooner because it was submerged in water.

Casey Anthony has insisted that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but she didn't report Caylee missing for another month.

The child's grandmother first called authorities in July to say that she hadn't seen Caylee for a month, and that her daughter's car smelled like death.

The streets around the Anthony home have been busy since the summer when the girl — then 2 years old — was first reported missing. The odd circumstances — a child missing for more than a month before being reported, her mother's lies and eventual murder charges — led to press conferences and even protests outside the home as the saga of the little girl grew more complex.

Even a recording of the 911 call reporting the remains highlighted the notoriety of the case and the neighborhood consumed by it.

When a utility employee told the 911 dispatcher that one of its workers found a skull in "the Caylee Anthony area," the dispatcher exclaims "oh" and warns them not to disturb any evidence or call attention to the discovery until authorities arrive.

Now the circus begins once again.

Hang the bitch. I'm sorry but abusing, molesting, or killing a child is unforgivable and those people should just be left to do die in a fire.

I would assume that the entire family is going to go to jail. They were covering up a murder case yes? Lied on the stand, purgery. Should be interesting to watch it unfold. I definitely want that bitch to die hardcore though.

I don't know much about the case other than the little girl went missing and now her remains were found, but whoever is implicated with the coverup should get screwed as well (not the good kind, but with a rusty rebar rod).

Death Penalty? Not going to happen. The prosecutors have already stated that she won't face it.

Owned by your own mother. Kudos to her.

None of them are going to jail, they're all going to be exhonerated.

There's been a massive failure on the part of the law enforcement and prosecution on this case, it'll be a miracle if they can even prove the DNA was accurate in court.

It's disgusting.
