Rep. McKinney Introduces Bill to Impeach Bush

In what was likely her final legislative act in Congress, outgoing Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney introduced a bill Friday to impeach President Bush.

The legislation has no chance of passing and serves as a symbolic parting shot not only at Bush but also at Democratic leaders. Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has made clear that she will not entertain proposals to sanction Bush and has warned the liberal wing of her party against making political hay of impeachment.

McKinney, a Democrat who drew national headlines in March when she struck a Capitol police officer, has long insisted that Bush was never legitimately elected. In introducing her legislation in the final hours of the current Congress, she said Bush had violated his oath of office to defend the Constitution and the nation's laws.

In the bill, she accused Bush of misleading Congress on the war in Iraq and violating privacy laws with his domestic spying program.

McKinney has made no secret of her frustration with Democratic leaders since voters ousted her from office in the Democratic primary this summer. In a speech Monday at George Washington University, she accused party leaders of kowtowing to Republicans on the war in Iraq and on military mistreatment of prisoners.

McKinney, who has not discussed her future plans, has increasingly embraced her image as a controversial figure.

She has hosted numerous panels on Sept. 11 conspiracy theories and suggested that Bush had prior knowledge of the terrorist attacks but kept quiet about it to allow friends to profit from the aftermath. She introduced legislation to establish a permanent collection of rapper Tupac Shakur's recordings at the National Archives and calling for a federal investigation into his killing.

But it was her scuffle with a Capitol police officer that drew the most attention. McKinney struck the officer when he tried to stop her from entering a congressional office building. The officer did not recognize McKinney, who was not wearing her member lapel pin.

A grand jury in Washington declined to indict McKinney over the clash, but she eventually apologized before the House.

Too late. By the time everythings said and done, his term will be ending. Regardless, let's go right ahead and put Cheney in office. That'll get things to change for the better!

Yeah, impeaching Bush would be the worst decision for the entire EARTH. I rather have a dunce as president than the real evil and crazy guys in power.
I remember this women from the whole scurity guard "scandal". She tried to stir up it up as a racism issue and then went back on it, probably after she realized it was her own damn fault for not wearing her pin.

Mmm, Snapple.

I don't like Bush at all, but I'm sure everyone will still have plenty of complaints come 2008 with whoever wins that election. Things always get worse before they get better. (Gogo pessimism!)

they both should get impeached.. fucking bullshit law where the government can pull anyone they believe to be a terrorist or someone who aids them at any time and hold them without the right to have a court -_- so.. wrong...

So now we have a republican honcho that's looked up to by republicans who is against the Military Commisions Act. Now if we can get the following repeal passed by congress:

http://dodd.senate.gov/index.php?q=node/3661

then even if Bush vetos it, maybe some of the non neo-con "rubber-stamp" repubicans will follow and it can get passed anyways. HOPE IS ALIVE!! =D

I'm waiting until the new congress gets all settled in their new comfy offices before calling them up and bugging them about this repeal. =)

oh ya, did you know that bush also started allowing taps on any american's phone calls going outside of the country? That is illegal, they need permission from congress to get a tap on a specific person and they need to come up each month to renew their permission :P (well not congress directly but some other organization they created). Bush appearantly no longer goes through that organization anymore.

Because congress is anti-American now.

The democrats took congress over again, so they are going to prollybe doing a lot of investigation come january. The republicans had congress, and let's face it, they aren't going to go against their own party.

You read my mind. But in all fairness if a democrat gets elected in 2008, you can expect the current congress to do the same. It's what I hate about the party wars. Americans shouldn't be fighting each other like this. That's why so many people are against straigh party voting and registering as independant or libertarian (me).

I do agree.. it's become way too much about parties and not about true Justice.. ah well..

The trouble is you damn kids ask too many questions. Us conservatives give you legal porn, spend your time watching that and stop uncovering our web of lies and conspiracies by searching for random shit on the internet.

He's talking about me.

I don't search for random shit on the internet. All of my (current) sources back up their information with 100% facts. Certain ones usually get a little carried away and turn into extremely biased propoganda reporting similar to that of FAUX news but lately most of them have been doing pretty decent at just reporting the pure facts and leaving out their opinions or saving them for a seperate article. You just have to have a brain in order to decipher your way through the BS.

Lately, I only use mainstream media as a source for anything. That and popular things like the Daily Show the the Colbert Report. Even though they are considered "fake news", they aren't Even CNN has admitted that they do report real news with real facts... just with a comedic twist.

I'm not going to get in an arguement over it though so take it or leave it. I'm not telling you to believe me, I'm just telling you how it is. =)

You do realize that you criticize Fox news for the conversative slant which is noticable but not overbearing and then you quote the daily show as a good source and it doesn't even try and hide being completely for the democrats?

Lets not forget now, in our haste to hate on Bush, the catylyst for getting tapped. You have to be calling someone on the "red list", somewhere on "red list", or be flagged yourself as being "red" in which you get the honors if you say anything warrenting concern for safety. Sounds resonable to me. Just like freedom wasn't free, safety sometimes creates necessary "breaches", if you will, of our normal way of life. Sure hippies hate it, but us normal down to earth people would rather be safe, in the long run, than so concerned with our rights for the short term to make a "statement". Even if they did tap these calls as often as you probably think, who cares? If you're not doing anything wrong, there is nothing to fear. Something else I'd like to rattle your cages with... scanners. An old piece of technology that can pick up cordless phone and some cell phone reception. Anybody can have one, I've had one since I was a small child, and they are relativly inexpensive making them a cheap and entertaining piece of equipment to own.

Anyway, there are always people bashing presidents for something. doesn't matter which end of the party system they subscribe to and there will always be people like you guys blowing things out of proportion. Think long-term and big picture instead of yourself and on a smaller plane and you'll sometimes see where these "bad presidents" are comming from. That's probably too much too ask though and I respect that. Thankfully, people like you could and will never make it into a position that matters in the government because either A) "the government is looking to own us all and I hate them" or B) your thinking abilities, not calling anyone stupid here, aren't on par with what it takes. Sure, make a Bush joke about B however, I urge you to look where he is and where you are. There are things he could have done better in his terms but everything he has done has been necessary for a better and safer future, imo. Whomever the president would have been for the past two terms would have caught equal heat and similarly handled certain things. It's the situations and circumstances, not the people.

All of that aside, I'm ready for Obama to take the role he deserves, for the most part. He'll be the first Democrat to ever get my vote. Hopefully he gets the run and not Hillary Clinton. With Hillary, it's a stupid show of someone trying to make a statement more than find us a sensible leader and all of her votes will come from the same gesture. Hopefully, if she gets the run, she will loose, horribly, but if she wins I really fear for us and the rest of the world that has to deal with her.

P.S. CNN fails too. You'll see.
