As I had previously mentioned before (and there's alot of people asking me about both my future projects, and FFXI DAT files), I hadn't updated anything with me because I was caught up in college work.

Well... due to certain events, my college time is now freed up and I'm able to work on my website, www.Devimension.com (est. Fall 2001) once again.

I remodeled the introduction page so it looks halfway decent now. And I was grapping with the people who provide the hosting services for my website. www.powweb.com .

As you may or may not know, I'm going to be working to making more .DATs again, doing reports on very obscure video games (which curiously, most of them come from Namco.) and working on my Final Fantasy XI Pseudo-Anime Series (an Episodic Machianima, similar to Red Vs. Blue [Halo])... As well as Final Fantasy XI Music Videos, and fan art... and other stuff too.

In any case, I'd like some feedback on what you think of the title page to my website so far. Bear in mind, my site is still a work in progress. I just updated it Today after about a 2 or 3 year hiatus.

On a scale of 1 to 10, what do you think so far?

I think there's something wrong with you "Enter" button, because it's not working for me. :P

Anyway, looks good, but... make the enter key work, it's depressing. T.T

It's not supposed to work yet because I only made the title page so far.

Like I said--It's still a work in progress.

I give it a 9/10 because I'm too lazy to add a 0 next to a 1.. also the flash animation thing reminds me of target.... with the circles.

Yes, but Devi, it's a button. I MUST CLICK IT. And yet there is nothing to click, it doesn't even go to a blank page. It's depressing.

If it makes you feel any better, I'd like you to know you're pushing MY buttons.

mmm, site looks good

It's not bad. A few things:

You can cut down on your loading time by optimizing your files (eg Photoshop "Save for Web" if you can get your hands on a copy). Use Gif instead of JPEG on some of the more basic images. I was able to cut your dvp_toptitle006.jpg file from 56k down to a 15k GIF, and I'm sure the others would shrink considerably as well.

Decent table design. No nested tables, which is good. You don't need the <div align="center">. Instead, I recommend using CSS, giving your table an id="content" (html) and adding a bit of css to the top:

Code:
<style type="text/css">
#content{margin:0 auto}
</style>

And doing some of your html forced widths and whatnot inside the actual css. Separate style and content.

Overall, the look is getting there. A little basic so far, but you'll get it to look the way you want it eventually.

The opening page looks badassed.

The enter button not working makes me feel as though you took me out for a nice seafood dinner and never called me again.

intro/welcome pages are one of the most common BAD web design techniques.
there is no need for fancy advertisement, in the form of a flash animation, to entise people to enter your site, the web-surfer has already made the decision to visit your site. most people simply got straight for the enter button.

the only site that need an intro/welcome page are sites that need to verify the surfer's age or warn you of offensive content. i.e. a porn site. is your site a porn site? no? then you dont need an intro page.

B-b-b-b-b...but... The internet is for porn...

Someone suggested a script, maybe through using PHP, in which the flash introduction part could be more "randomized" in which a different background displays with each load of the page.

If someone knew how to script such a thing, I'd gladly impliment it.

(I may abandon the intro page idea, but I would like to see how this works, still.)
