I learned my lesson after lending an O Kote to someone who then turned around and sold it to get the other gear his gimp-ass MNK was lacking.
I only lend to Ish and my best friend, though with my friend I sometimes need to logon to his account to get my stuff back because he has a habbit of quitting after a week of play.

Never, ever lend things to people you don't know or trust IRL, or you can be sure as hell you'll never see them again unless that person is strutting it in Jeuno/Whitegate.

I've borrowed things from people before, and returned them. At one time I had well over 10 Million gil in equipment from a friend on my character, and every bit of it was returned or purchased from him. I've been loaned expensive things from friends for a single party, or just for the heck of it while skilling up. It boggles my mind how some people would take advantage of the generousity and trust of their friends. I must say I feel a great deal of pity for those people, for no doubt their lives are a sad, lonely existance since I seriously doubt individuals with such little character have any friends in their lives for long at all, and probably have more than a few enemies made through their backstabbing and other obvious character flaws.
