I've been away from FF a long time, it's getting close to 2 years. Left mainly because of having problems getting groups and the rediculous constant inflation of prices. I've been following the bannings of RMT, which solves one problem at least but has the party waiting time changed at all? Is it worth it to start a new character? I worry I'd be the only level 10 LFG because everyone is already 75 ><.

Any input or thoughts are appreciated, I've missed the game.
 
there are still parties in dunes and stuff, slower, but its there... things are cheaper i think in a way
 
Inflation has dereased drastically, and there are certainly still pts in the dunes areas, just not as many as before, but it's not at all impossible to get one, welcome back.
 
I haven't really noticed a difference in party invites, sometimes you'll fly by your lvls with quick invites, other times you'll be standing around for hours or days waiting, but there will always be people lvling and I think its even more common now to see more people duoing or trioing depending on your job because some of the new areas in ToAU allow you to xp on the mobs without a full party.

Also something worth noting is "Astral Candescence" which really makes xping in the new ToAU areas worth it. It can get pretty crowded at times but its now possible to get parties that have anywhere from 10-15k xp/hr depending on your setup.

And i'd say prices have dropped quite a lot since this time last year, so things are more affordable. Its just a matter of being able to farm up the gil to get it.
 
I'm also returning! Very soon now. I need to wait till Tuesday rolls around so I can pick up my lovely new video card from the UPS offices. (long story)

I'm returning only after a 7 month leave though. Nothing too big. I'm mainly worried about losing my original place in the story and quests and having to find everything AGAIN! Not to mention messing with my freaking macros again.

Are Windower macros frowned upon here? Are they detectable?
 
Thanks for all the help. I'm still thinking about it and I hope to come back. I've gotta go pick up all the expansions, I think I'm 2 behind now.
 
One more thing thats been bothering me actually is the amount of people still playing the game. Everytime I log on to check something it seems like another person is leaving. Are there still a lot of people playing? Any rough guesses as to how many people are online in a day?

There are still alot of people playing. If anything I think the population of this server has continued to grow since I've been playing.
