Just fought this guy at Lv24...and good lord lol. I used so many Ethers and Phoenix Downs. Was hanging on by a thread the whole fight which was like 45 minutes. Epic. Anyone else fought this hunt yet?

I've been trying to find the M something snake in the caves in Westersand too. Can't figure out how to make him pop or if hes in the area with the Lv38 mobs.
 
Nah, this one roams around in the Windtrace Dunes (I think is the name) in Westersand during a sandstorm.

He's in the first area in that cave. Kill the mobs near that little "window" thingy or whatever it is near a corner of the map, and wait there and he'll spawn within 5 min... atleast he did for me.
 
Ahhh ok. I kept running around trying to kill all the mobs in the zone thinking it was one of those ones where it pops after you clear the zone, leave, and come back. Thanks.
 
I am not all that far in the story either, I just have frequented the FFXII boards almost everyday at Gamefaqs for the past 9months or so since JP release.
 
I haven't gotten to him lol, I just knew what mob that was you described.
 
I'm level 22 (and haven't gone through Tomb of Raithwell yet but at that place) went back to do some marks.. did the Rocktoise and the cluck thingy then the Wyvern Lord and Nidhogg (not to mention some revenge on werewolves :P) and when I got Ring Wyrm, Myt(snakethingy) and White Mousse.. went to try Ring Wyrm.. I got pwned XD hardcore pwned.. still have yet to get one quickening for anyone.. not sure yet about em.. *shrugs* just been working on everything else on the license board XD my heroes will have 2000 HP once I finally get that 500+ HP license :P at level 22 that seems pretty decent (as best I can tell) but I am still working on figuring out other things.. hehe.. *shrugs* Ring Wyrm and that Myt-snake-thing are tough.. haven't tried White Mousse cause I figured he'd be just as tough x.x
 
Just beat this thing, took me about 15 tries, tried a shitload of strategies. The winning time I pretty much had vaan tank with shield/gauntlets/decoy while larsa pretty much main healed (love hi-potion gambit), and other 2 sub healing when it was needed. Fight took about 30 mins, Belias is a beast against him...took away atleast 30% of its HP for me. I used like 15 phoenix downs and probably like 45 hi-potions (plus like...100 from larsa's infinate hi-potion gambit)...ether or two...yeah hard fight at level 25. Make sure you dont have all your characters gathered in the same spot cause otherwise his breath attack will pretty much just lay you out. Oh and dont use any summons/quickenings right away either cause at about 50% of his health he'll just restore it all back so save them until he does that.

I fought him at level 24 as well. The flametongue sword + haste seemed to own him. Blind and Slow were AWESOME as well. Used up like 4-5 ethers and 5 phoenix downs, but awesome fight ^^
 
I was level 25ish XD no quickenings, was still before I beat Raithwell's tomb I think :P so much fun and so tough :D

I was like 17 when I did raithwall >.>

Quickenings are useless on ring wyrm for the most part because of how much hp he has. Just the bonus mp from them help...lol
 
hehe, I screw around a lot in the game :P I'm level 32 and I haven't yet gone through the forest/jungle thing to get to the mountain :P
 
Quickenings are hardly useless VS. Ring Wyrm... He has a nice chunk of HP sure, but it's not too hard to knock off 25% of his HP with them.
 
just totally clocked him, used belias twice, then i did my normal melee with gambits till he died.... first try... level 36 though
