This is Sam. Yesterday Elph's sister was forced to put him to sleep. The poor guy had cancer in his stomach which had further spread to his liver. He was an old man and we knew his time was growing close regardless but it still is sad to see the little fella go. He wasn't our cat in truth. He was a gift to elph's mom back in 1990 and he always will be her cat. We took over for her after she passed away 2 years ago. We could tell right away that Sam missed her and we think he was depressed after she passed away. We noticed that he wasn't gaining any weight in the last few months and was eating less and less as the days went by. The decision to put him down wasn't a hard one because we knew it was the best course of action. But he will be missed all the same.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope he wasn't in too much pain before he was put down.

It's always hard to make the decision to put a pet down. I'm sorry to hear that you had to do to Sam. From what you told me about him he was a good cat.

Sorry for your loss, comes with the whole package unfortunately :\. Glad you made a proper choice though.

And omg lolz at the hawk XD

one of sam's silly lil quirks was that he would follow one of us into the bathroom and wait till we turned on the water in the sink. he would then decide it was time for a drink and stick his head under the running water. Elph would shape his fur into a Mohawk from time to time when she caught him.

I am incredibly sorry to hear this. Of course it was for the best but that doesn't help the hurt you're feeling. I don't even know what to say. I'm just really really sorry. :(

It's so sad when a pet dies or has to be put down.

I, and you might as well, take comfort in the fact that you gave the kitty a very good home and a great life. He could've had a waaay worse life out on the street or with someone that neglected him, so just remember that you provided a healthy, safe, and happy home for this cat to live in.

My sympathies.

I had to put my 16year old cat down on just friday, I know how it is. Best wishes.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, I lost my cat to Diabetes some years ago, it would have needed insulin shots twice daily for the rest of its life. I couldnt bear with that so I had to put him down. It was the saddest day I can ever recall, the poor thing was sick and I couldnt afford to help it.

We get so attached to our loved pets we really feel the loss when they go, my deepest sympathies to you on your loss Zaltana.

That really sucks Zalt and Elph, I've got a couple pets that are totally awesome, and I can't even think about what I would do if I lost them, I hope you get through this ok.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Two summers ago my cat ran away and never came home so at least you had the comfort to know that Sam was put down humanely and peacefully. Six years ago we had to put down my dog Shadow that had been in the family since I could remember. It's very hard to let a pet go, but you know they're in an even better place.

The worst day of my life was when my cat Rocky died :/ He was only 6 years old, so at least Sam lived a long, full life!

I'm sorry to hear about that, Zalt. /comfort
