Ripping People Off On Halloween Event

Honestly, i love not participating in the event and yet benefitting form it. I levelled leathercraft 2 levels and cooking 4 levels and I've broken even b/c of this event. I levelled using bubble chocolate so it REALLY worked out for me...in fact i think I have more than I started with. Taking advantage of other people's laziness shouldn't be so frowned upon. People in NORTHERN SANDORIA were buying SANDORIAN GRAPES out of my bazaar for 300 gil. Did I take advantage of this to it's full extent? No. I only had 3 sandorian grapes in my bazaar at the time. The grapes sell for like 60 gil at a vendor less than 5 minutes away... It's your own fault if you pay so much, not mine.
 
Well, I am actually pleased with the event. I got the hat and staff that I wanted, cool.
So, a long time ago I invested quite a bit of money for lvl 42-50 of cooking. I bought 7 stacks of ingredients, which makes a total of 28 stacks of delicious apple pie. Note that I bought all this BEFORE the event started.

I log on a day or two ago and find that sweets are in high demand. Apple pie prices went up about 1000 or so. Instead of losing money like I am supposed to, I am eventually going to make a net profit of 50,000 gil.

not much, but nice.

Ok as an "Evil" WHM who has the audacity to ask for gil for his time I feel the need to defend myself. First off unlike the rest of you we CAN NOT FARM. Oh sure we can go make a train of Amethyt Quadavs for the backplates, adn at 53 I can finaly go hunt Tigers in Jugner. As a low lvl WHM though, Teleports where my primary source of income. You ask for a serice and we supply it. We of course get paid for said service. You think you know what it is like to be a WHM? Get to your AF1 and then come talk to me what its like.... The constant begging, excuse me can you Raise, can I ahvve some gil (For some reason we are viewed as the richest class, news to me), Power Level me. Even freinds beg for power levels. (Which I have no objection of doing if they are friends and I am not busy) We have to live in anon otherwise we will be endlesly harrased. And then thier is the joy of partying... An experience upon itself, the only reason to be a WHM is if you like to torture yourself mentaly, inflicting as much agony and boredome upon your mind as possibale.

So now we get called greedy for asking for 500 gil to Teleport you? After we spend tens of thousands of gil on these teleport spells (Total cost if you are buying is close to 450k) Plus EVERY other spell we need up until that point. That is alot of spells and they get very costly. If we did not charge 500 gil the /tells for teleports would be never ending, and you know what? People would not get ports unless they ad a WHM friend who was willing to do it. But if you ahd one of those near buy you would not be asking for a port would you?

So in recap, do not call us "greedy" for trying to make a living, do not call us lazy when you are one of 100 other begging for something. If you want to stick out amongst hundreds you need to flash some cash. Or hey boycott the WHM bus service. Have fun walking I am sure you could use the exercise or you would enjoy paying jeuno Chocobo fares.
 
Well I've played some Wtm and I can understand a little of the begging aspect. Even though I am low lvl wtm and play it anon people just running by me and seeing me heal myself will ask me to completely deplete my MP reserve so that they can keep fighting with no downtime. As for the begging for money, all well equipped classes get it and all mid ranged and up classes get it.

I have no problem if people charge for tele-taxi or for raises. As long as it is stated up front that money is expected.
 
Agreed. Another way of looking at teleports is as paying for food. Mages eat and drink alot. You want a well fed mage don't you? A hungry mage is a sad site in a party.
 
I pay for teleports ALL the time. We pay for chocobos...we pay for airships...why shouldn't a person pay for teleports? As dire stated...if the whm didn't charge for teleports than your ass would be stuck in Jeuno or Sandy or where the hell ever you are or you'd be grabbing a choco....hell I paid 1000 gil to take a friggin choco from Jeuno to Garlaige Citadel the other day...In my mind a tele for 500gil is a damn good bargain!
 
Expensive Fruit, but save on walking time = Convenience

Teleports = Convenience

Convenience = Gil

If you don't want to want to give up the gil, don't expect convenience. That's pretty much what I'm thinking..

A teleport for 500 gil is always a better deal than the 460 gil chocobo in Jeuno, but generally, I'lm only going to those areas close to the crags.
 
Well, I'm guilty of making a good deal of money off of this, but not by buying and reselling fruit. I got my items, then made a run to Kazham, to buy Kukuru Beans. I made 12 stacks of Bubble Chocolate, and got 60k out of the deal (profit, I remade the costs of making them).

The reselling fruit bothers me, because that's really taking advantage of people...

but...I was the only one selling Bubble Chocolate, and, people seemed to want it.
 
I just want add that whm charging money for teleport is ok by men. There are people willing to pay to save time so why not. And there are also whm who will do it for free because they have found other ways to make gils.

Now what realy pissed me off this week-end was when the whm in our party asked me for gils so he can buy his new spells and gears. I mean, WTF... I polytely asked him why should I pay for this and the answer I feared cae.... "Because I am keeping you alive!" Some nerves. Maybe I should charge for taking all the damage in his place (Oh and by the way dying 5 times because he could not do his job)? Anyway, I tried to be courteous and did not mention it again for the rest of the night, but every fight I was tempted on letting the mandy go chew on his little pink taru ass.

Anyway, I had heard of this type of request before, just never occured to me up till then.
 
The thing is that most ppl pay 500g in Jeuno but in Bastok , Sandy and Windy they want more money ~_~ like 1k or so........ i dont like how thats done
 
i still dont see why they should charge so much. I guess it's cheaper cuz there are more whm's around jeuno willing to teleport........

BAH! This thread is old, i still remember at easter people charging 10000G for an "A" egg, i was wtf, that crazy and insane, they get the eggs for free and then charge 5k~10k sometimes 20k for a goddam lettered egg, that is NOT fun and celebrations are suppose to be fun NOT ripping gil of other people. Lucky for me i got my Lucky Egg at an expense of 30k not that bad, i didn't get any of the goddam 5k~10k lettered eggs that time. The most i paid for any egg is 1~1.5k.

As for halloween, i got the sweets from NPC hence no one ripped my gil this time, didn't buy any from bazaars of AH as the prices are goddam insane, apple pie can shoot up to 4000G/12. For me i need the pies to xp in party, but now i can't even get any cause of the price hike.

And here is the reason, if I am in one of tose cities it is for a VERY short periode of time. I want to get away from the begging and other spam. Latest pet peeve has been those casinos popping up. That being said Mine and most other WHMs most 34 have our HPs in Jeuno. If we Tele you that means we need to haul are ass hack. Dangling large sums of gil is always a surefire way of getting our attention.

Another thing I no longer port in Jueno for 500 gil, those would be the Mea, Dem and Holla crags. Partly because 500 gil is no longer a huge motivator for me and also cause there is ALOT of competition with lower lvls who need the gil more then I do.

With teh eggs it was assumed people would trade, most where willing to, but hey if some dumbass was willing to just buy it for 20k, thats 20k in my pocket.

Simple solution, do what ever service or sell whatever item they are but under-cut their price.
