Okay I know I'm not the first to complain about the rising prices, but rates on this server are getting freaking outrageous. For the love of christ people if you go to the goddamn AH to buy something don't just jack up the price bidding another half a frickin' mil. Let the item sit there and run its course at the expense of the butt-wad that put it up for that much. Yes, gilsellers are part of the problem... but the saps who buy things in million gil increments are just as much to blame. I know enough people probably won't read this or take it seriously enough for this to actually impact anything, but its not getting any better and everyone knows SE ain't gonna do crap to fix it. I know we all wanna get better gear and make more money, but we don't have to do it in a way that hurts eachother and ourselves in the long run. Please don't buy high and sell reasonable. Thank you.

This is already covered on a currently active flameboard thread, a general discussion thread, and about 200 or so old threads.

Well as covered in Mistra's Thread, The possible influx on the economy has raised significantly over Christmas. It is possible that many of the players who catered to this used thier "Christmas Money" to purchase gil, allowing them to buy the things they wanted.

If this is the case I hope to see the price of things falling soon since no one gets Money as a gift every day. Since not a lot of people will have the money to purchase gil there will not be a lot of it flowing in the system and because of this I think (hope) that prices will fall because people will have to go back to the old ways of Farming and undercutting eachother in order to sell fast and make gil fast to get the items they want.

Through this, because people will now go back to knowing the "Value of the dollar" and what they make, prices will eventually come down again so people can sell their items. At least until next Christmas.... We will see.

If SE actually did something about gil buying in the first place, we'd still have inflation, but much less of the million-dollar increment bidders...But it seems like SE has done nothing about it, really. It seems like there are plenty of gil buyers and thriving gil selling companies.

I forget who, and in which thread, maybe Dowzer, but someone said something to the effect of, "It's a game...Real money, no thanks."
I think that makes perfect sense. Considering SE stands by, hat in hand about the whole thing, it's merely a moral issue, and the honest players suffer. Sad.

hehe, i dont post on here often, but well, ever think sometimes buyers dont have too much choices but buying over-priced shit cz sellers jack up the prices by Ms?

dammit daveee knew you was a trick gil buyer.

thought i could trust you

God damn am I the only one getting sick of all this bitching about prices? Every time I get into parties lately all I hear is "fuck this game" "these prices suc, im gunna quit." Then quit! I mean damn its a game, why would you spend all your time talking about how much you hate it? And as for those of you who cry about hating NM camping or farming, if you are an intelligent person you can make money in this game with hardley no farming or NM camping. And guess what? Its a damn game, so dont like the prices of items, then dont buy them. If you want the best then fucking work and get the best. People bitch about things like O.Kote price as if it was always some easily affordable item, when the reality is a long ass time ago they were considered rare and "1337," and now they are considered the norm. All these items you keep talking about (SH, Hauby, etc.) being really expensive used to all be really rare and considered the best. Guess what? Being the best isnt and shouldnt be cheap.

oops :) knew i shouldnt have posted anything here hehe, ppl who dont like you will just try to hit you whenever they get a chance :( that's too bad

Dragon say whatever you want, idc, you think that will make me what im not? and you think i care if you trust me or not? peace :)

i believe that most of the items that are up on the AH come from gil sellers. i might be wrong, but there is a correlation between the price in game going up vs gil being sold going down. gil has gone down about 50% (from ige for example) in the past 6 months. the prices in game keeps getting higher and higher.

in one day hauby went from 3mil >> 3.5mil. then next week it jumped to 5mil. a few days ago, the price is at 10mil.

back in the day, you could buy 10mil for $110. now 10mil is $50. but because its cheaper, the game prices are higher, so you cant get jack shit anymore lol. either way, the economy is inflating to the point where its like on other servers. somebody told me on some server, the prices are at least 5x more than ours. oh well w/e. what can you do?

Most D. Ingots come from Gil sellers? Most V. Claws do? Not even close. Prices get jacked from no haubys being on the AH and some smart person thinking hmmm, i can raise price by 500k and since mine is the only one up, I'm gunna get it. Say hello to my friend supply and demand. Gil buying may help speed up the process of inflation, but if you are smart you can play that to your benefit...and wallet.

Rediculously, we got 15 or so D. ingots during a cannon KS30 run at one point, back when they were 2 mil.

If only it was today, I would[have been] be rich.

If you're going to be a complete douche to people, maybe they will quit. Who will you play with then? The gil buyers and the people with no lives I suppose. Wonder how much fun that would be...

lol it gets old when I join a pt and hear 3 members bitching about how this game sucks and how they are gunna quit because of prices and constant shit like that, then come here and hear it too. And I could care less if people quit, I would rather they did than constantly talk to me about how everything sucks

If you guys really want things too change then why don't yall do something about it other then bitching about it. Do some research, get organized, form a linkshell and go after the materials yourselves. Make sure you have some crafters in your shell and sell them too yourselves at what you would think would be a fair price. There is obviously like minded people. Fight the system and boycott the AH. I don't mean too sound like a jerk, but these are problems that can be fixed easily without SE stepping in.

Its caused by the devaluation of currency. More and more gil keeps entering the economy, so its worth less and less. The number of items (SH, whatever) remains the same, so prices on those go up. And when I say gil is entering the economy I don't mean by Gillsellers. they dont just make money appear out of nowhere. Money enters this game faster than it leaves. Just the way its programmed. I know there are gilbuyers and sellers out there, but Im 100% sure they dont fug up the economy as bad as everyone says. I think theyve just become a scapegoat for people, an easy target. This nasty inflation is caused by Economics. I have a degree in Econ. So Ill give you a simple example of why were seeing the current price hikes.

Lets say everyone has 100 gil. If there were only 1 hauby for every 10 people, Haubies would be worth 1,000 gil.
If you then gave everybody another 100 gil, so everybody would have 200 gil, but the number of Haubies stayed the same, then a Huaby would be worth 2000 gil.

Alot of people sound like their complaining because the game can be hard and time consuming. Thats WHY I play it. Im probably have about 100 million in gear, and I never needed to buy gil or farm. There are plenty of easy and FUN ways to make money in this game.

If you want a game where you can log in and have a lvl 75 character and all the best gear just by asking for it, play another game like WoW or something (No offense to WoWers out there, it is a fun game too ^^')

If you're like Me and thrive on competition and challenge, then You'll enjoy FFXI.

When there's a genuine inflation, all the prices on items you cant get from NPC Shops shift equally. For example "Item A" was once 1mil and is now 4mil, but equally "Item B" that you farm or craft for profit could have gone up from 25k to 100k. The problem with this current inflation would be that Item A is a big name item, and we all know a bunch of kiddies convinced their parents to buy "internet monopoly money" as my friend Acavar used to put this holiday season. Now obviously they're not going to buy Item B, they want the big bad Item A. So eventually supply & demand gets a hold of Item A's prices and they begin to rise.

My guess would be that either Item B will rise in price soon, and will restabilize the economy, it will just be bigger numeric figures. Or Item A will eventually fall down in price and will be similar to before.

I should note that idk if any of this is true, it's just something I've come up with from being an Auction House whore :/

Austere Robe for Smn lvl 50 was 900k YESTERDAY. It is over 1.8 mil in the AH right now. What the deuce.
