RNG question

i think cerberus bow +1 will top an E.bow now.

That'd be interesting to test, considering that f-king shadow won't drop for me.

I'm pretty sure the 490 delay on E.bow will keep it ahead of an HQ Cerb Bow (582 delay), but it would definitely be fun to test it out.

It's too bad nobody ever tries this synth. I'm sure it would fetch a decent price.

edit: beat me to it. I'm a bit slow posting from work it seems..

Yeah, 2 damage and 1 Ratt doesn't make up for the extra second it takes to fire off a shot, I doubt cerberus+1 would even come close to e-bow.

new question.

as i said before i have an S.bow for my rng. since i dont see myself having have a vali's bow in the near future would it be wise to get a Shigeto Bow when i hit 71 or stick with S till i can get Vali's?

I use O-Bow in xp/merit myself depending on what I'm fighting. I have a Mnd Build where I have like +40 Mnd and I'll up to 40-55 added effect per shot pretty consistent on some things. I use Selene on light resistant mobs or when the bow is at or near maxed out on to Ranged attack.

But I've found the benefits for Acid bolts spread out over the whole party, is more than the extra dmg you personally will do with a Selene/Valis's/E-Bow.

So I usually use Mind for TP, and swap it out for WS.

Edit: I'd say Selene, you just have to tweak your gear some depending on the moon phase, but when it's maxed out on New Moon, it's pretty good.

since i next to never use it for anything i use my rdm to get archery merits. right now i have 6 in archery and 2 in crits.

S.bow is completely acceptable all the way to 75 for anything you'd ever want to do, but there are times when Shigeto could be useful. The delay is very high, so it is nice for spike dmg situations when you want the most TP return from Barrage. (Divine Might or Snoll comes to mind) Most RNG's will use a Gun in those situations, but a high base dmg/high delay bow also works if thats where you've got your merits.

My only gripes with S.bow are it's inconsistency and slightly higher delay then Ebow, but it's only noticable if you've been using Ebow for a long time and then switch.

Yeah I've been using S. Bow for some time, the dmg is pretty decent...until I got my hands on an E. Bow for a few short hours during dynamis. I think I was pulling out 1k+ sidewinders on it, as opposed to 500ish slugs on o. bow.

But o. bow's mainly for DPS when stacked with acids and holies...weapon of choice when your gil is feeling some hurt..because unfortunately Demon arrows tend to be a big kick in the nether region when it comes to gil...and let's not even get into using Kabura arrows for engame

thanx a bunch.

Man, Sozu Rogberry dropped the knife faster than this headache will the bow...Hate Eastern Shadow. All kills with TH3. Now I can't camp because I'm at work, lol. More fun next weekend.

Sorry for the random question Is Gold Musketeer (think that's what it is) Bolt no longer used/useful by RNG for WS? Or is it because most people don't get the points for it nowadays? I hear a lot of RNG talk about using other bolts for WS for some reason.

I feel your pain, I went about 6-7 kills when it was E. Bow without a drop (not to mention the many times RMT claimed it in front of me). Got Vali's on first kill after update tho :)

And Mish, I shot by mistake 7 G.M. Bolts, I don't know about other rangers, but I'm never spending CP on that again.

No, there's nothing better for Slugshot with an Xbow then GMB. If you don't have it then Darksteel bolts are fine though.

If anything, it's not too common due to Crossbow's limited use outside of an exp party. In other words, you won't find too many RNG using Obow on gods/jailers/HNM. It's usefulness is tied to status bolts landing effectively, which doesn't happen on anything super high lvl.

I used GMB until I shot off my 2nd one without Unlimited, then didn't bother getting another. That was around the time nation aketons came out, and I saved my CP up for them.

That sounds about right, I've seen it 7 days in a row and it hasn't dropped at all. Another Thief and I are ccing/helping each other. It's pretty cool. When I get claim, I invite him and vice versa when he does. Claimer = Party leader and gets the bow, I believe we're both gonna hit the ceiling when it finally drops. I couldn't imagine if RMT were there D: I'm just glad my CC is cool enough to be comfortable with helping the TH myth.

I used to use PPA with Ebow, until I shot the arrow and eventually sold the bow.

Oh, and I recall before I picked up the PPA; Medman was saying the additional stats do nothing for WS. I chuckled and agreed with him to avoid an arguement.

i bring a new question to this disscussion.

im a mithra and speaking with a friend, who's oppinion i respect alot for the work he put into his ranger, says that as a mithra i shouldnt bother with archrey merits as marksmenship. i just capped them and i personally dont feel i waisted my time doing so. but like i said he's a higher lvl ranger then me so he knows more about the in's and out's then i do.

i remember him saying that AGI is the modifier for marks. since mithra have the highest natural AGI he feels i would have better spent those points on marks VS archery. since you need more STR to get bigger numbers from arch and mithra's naturally are on the lower end of the STR ladder do you think he's right? or does it really matter anymore once you get into the upper lvls. with the gear avalible today character's natural stats seem to count for less as far as defining races. for most things at least. i've seen galka blm's rake in some impressive numbers and taru DD's that'll make your head spin. and not all had "1337" gear either.

im happy that through my rdm im able tp pre-prepare my rng for later trials. and hopefully i wont have to hold my breath so much now for my my sidewinders. once rng is 75 i plan to up marks as well. but for now imma enjoy the fruits of my hard work.

thoughts on this?

Race does not make that much of a difference for anything in this game. Yes, that applies to everything in this game. Any stat can easily be balanced out by pieces of equipment. If I remember correctly, the difference between Mithra base STR and Elvaan base STR on RNG was about 6 points, which in all honesty, is negligible since STR caps out fairly easy on RNG. Archery weapons, namely Vali/Eurytos, will always come out on top in the same conditions as any other ranged weapon. End of story.

My thoughts? Your friend needs to think a bit before he gives out advice and you probably shouldn't listen to him anymore. He might be a boomeranger.
