Ok well someone brought a very good point up today. Ezikiel, poster on this board so i hope he doesnt mind if i mention him, sent me a tell today when i was leveling my newly readied Ranger. He congratulated me on my engagement and then said i was like a rolemodel to him!! Needless to say i was shocked. I honestly never thought i had done anything special. Sure i believe people could /sea all thief and never have a problem inviting me but to think that i inspired people was beyond me. I was extremely flattered by this and again shocked. That is probably what keeps me coming back though...the game itself would be boring after about a week, but people make the game.

So since i brought up the topic i might as well mention mine. Id have to Synical is a person i look up to. Being a level 70 (congrats) ranger now, he has been around the block a few times. I see him EVERYWHERE and i know he has an awesome rep. I talked to him once but mainly its his aura of like mystery that i know nothing about him. He just seems so cool to me and shows why i want to be a ranger. I cant wait to surpass him though!! =P

synical is my rolemodel, even though im not a ranger or an elvaan lol :P

when i was a wimpy level 28 or 29 hunting for my RSE, in shakrami, can you guess the one person who agreed to help me? synical. i had no idea who he was before that day. we spent almost all of the day hunting for the key >.< and then i tried as hard as i could but alas, no chest could be found in time. i still have that key, i will not let it go until it rightfully fits in the chest of a RSE box, until then it can be a memento of how great synical is and how weak he was at level 52-56 :P (he let me die :P)

My rolemodel is Nasya. On my first day playing, I ran into some trouble and a Higher level thief saved my butt. Nasya befriended me and told me I could ask questions whenever I had one. I asked a couple of questions every once in a while and I always received helpful answers. Then last week as I was clearing my friendlist of players I havent seen in 3 months, I was going to clear Nasya but I couldn't do it. Nasya has inspired me to always be the most helpful player I can be. I think the people you meet early in your characters life can negatively or positively affect who you are as a player and I am infinitely better because of Nasya!! Thats also the reason why I have the quote from Mark Twain in my sig.

So Nasya, If you ever make your way to these boards, THANK YOU !!!

Thanks Faedryth-

I truely want to be the best player that I can at my job (THF). And there are a few ppl that I consider are the best- no matter what lvl they currently are- they just "get it". Faed you are one of them.

I remember my 1st day playing (about a month ago) and I was totally overwhelmed (the stupid ? mark on our heads), I get waved at by a guy named Metaphod. He totally gave me some insight on what to do, and then gave me some great lvl 1 armor! I couldn't believe that someone could be so nice!
Then a few days later, another player-Dragons- saw the ? mark and started talking to me. He took me through the mog secret entrance quest. I was amazed!

After that, I decided that I will always help new players- so when I get some of the low lvl armor drops, and I see one. I always stop them and give it to them. The responses are usually interesting!

I completely agree Ezikiel and i too like to just out of the blue give peopel stuff. I remember one time being wayyyy back when i was raising thief in dunes and was strapped for cash. I was running back to Sandy when someone waved to me. Me being the polite person i am stopped to wave back. Suddenly the "so and so wants to trade with you pops up". I actually got about 5k worth of equipment from this person. I was blown away. That was honestly the most money i had seen up to that point. So now i randomly stop a ? person and will make sure this is their first char. If it is i give them a certain amount of gil. Come to think of it, i havent done so in a while so im sure some newb is going to be recieving a nice quantity of gil tonight. To me 5k is nothing when im dealing in 100's of thousands, but to a level 4 or 5, 5k is the reason to keep going, to aspire to get that next piece of armor or something. Nice to know some peopel out there have no qualms about parting with some gil to encourage others to play.

The other night I paid a high lvl WHM (Daro), to come and p-lvl my pt. I told the pt- Hey this nice WHM is going to stick around and heal us so we can gain LOTS of exp- you know "power level" I told him that we would give him 1k and he'll stay till everyone lvls.

The whole pt was extatic- and true to his word he did. And would you believe that the only ones who gave him the $$ was myself and one other. Ppl kill me.....

We'll Faed, I have to say that I'm lvl 18 THF, and 5k is still A LOT of gil to me!! But I believe in karma. So If someone's in my pt, and needs a mithkabob- or whatever, I'm there!

Lol sorry i didnt mean to make it seem like its not. Honestly i never saw more than 20k at any one time until i was about level 30. My LS decided to camp Emperor (ahh the first one :)) and we got it so 93k each. Only after i got thief to about 39 did the money start rolling in. I dont know how it happened but one day 10k would be in every slot of my delivery box and now i got money like crazy.

Nah i meant that since you give at ALL being level 18 is awesome. Like i said money is tight so way to be.

Not sure I have one... all my friends that got me into this server have already quit a long time ago. And Ive played this game mostly solo with little to no help along the way... kinda sad, but I guess thats why I don't have a rolemodel.

Not to mention the 2 weeks I was waiting for the game to come in the mail I spent like 2 hours a day surfing FFXI websites and forums figuring out everything I could and trying to know everything.. so when I came into the game I didn't really have any questions =/

And I agree Nasya has always been really nice, she is a long time friend of mine since my 2nd LS.

My role model would have to be the starter of this post, this guy just never seizes to amaze me . one minute he is a 12 nin when i meet him a few days later his lvl 20 in quffim then a ranger fighting along side me. he has taught me alot about the game that i didnt even know existed. /clap fae

my rolemodle was a jp 75blm named yoshi.
he offered his services to help me obtain my kazham keys back in the day...after i had dropped 3 levels from doing so for about a week.
now that im at lvl 40 i always try to help those that may have a legitimate problem and showed some effort in that problem at least.

^^;;;;
ty java for the compliment. I dont think i do anything special in game, i tend to act in game as i normally do out of it. i'm sry bout the death thing >< rng = too weak.

as for someone in this game that was kind enough to show a noobish lv 17 War some time and rather Amusing macros...i'd definately have to name Screwage.
gd i love that guy.

I have a couple of rolemodels:

- Leibfrid - He is my older cousin who plays the game and powerleveled me my first 10 levels ^^. He showed me the basic tricks and ropes of a game, and helped me get some decent equipment. He told me what was best for my job and without him, I still wouldnt know what an AH was :P

- Skc - A friend of my cousin, who helped me with the earlier quests (rabbit hides, bat wings, etc) and helped me show some places around where I can do things to make more gil.

- Justarius - He gave me my first shield for free ^^. Currently a lvl 50 BLM, he helped me do some missions, particularly the rank 2 dragon and rank 4 in delkfutts tower. ^^

I still talk to these people every day. I always stay in contact :)

justariusis in my LS, and hes 52 now :P hes working on getting his darkstaff i believe, we have recently been trying to get a sucessful coffer key/genkai/ordeal done sucessfully. ours next coffer attempt is june 6th at night i believe, if it isnt canceled, anyone wanna come help? we want to try eldeimine necropolis and garlaige citadel

My role model is Nasya too, no matter how f'tardish someone is she puts up with them... oh my god i want to stab my eyes out with a bent fork with some of the ppl I deal with sometimes, but she somehow takes it in stride...

Shes cute too :p

ok my bro might be a bit embarassed but hey he wont see it till the end of the summer *hopefully*

Matthias-Awesome guy.we never actually see eachother in-game (we share a ps2)but if it were not for him I:
A:Wouldn't have my Loyal Zaghnal
B:Wouldn't have the motivation to get to L8 (current Lvl)
C:Would be as much of a newb. At L7 as most chars (he taught me alll the ways to make $$$)
D:wouldn't have an armrest (long story i/j)

And Back when i was Ananais in Sandy it was Naveronasis
She helped me start out and i will never ever forget her

I have to say that it's really cool reading these posts and seeing just how much of an impression a few kind deeds can make on a person...people really do make this game^^

As for my rolemodel, mine would be Palum. He's a good friend of mine in RL as well, but I think we've become better friends (and rivals hehe) because of FFXI. He always seems to be a step ahead of me in all respects of the game and this really helps keep me motivated so I can be the best lil taru-waru I can be :D I was actaully a hume when I first started (Macros), but he convinced me that I should become the Porum to his Palum (like we originally agreed to do, sorry! ^^;;)
