Heya! I'm getting a copy of FFXI tomorrow to replace EQ2 for now. I really liked being in an RP guild on EQ and I was wondering if there was any form of a RP community on this server? Like is there an RP LS, which I am assuming an LS is like a guild? Hopefully I'm not completely off, I'm just versed in the ways of EQ, but that will change shortly :)
 
Well, RP doesnt appear to be the most common activity for a lot of people on Quetzalcoatl or FF in general. But that doesnt mean RP doesnt exist. A very good RP linkshell to look into is the Nightblades. Their site can be found here: www.s14.invisionfree.com/NightBlades/index.php

The The Traveller's Tavern, which is the QCDN RP forum, is rarely seeing any action. If there are active RPers out there, they sure hide from QCDN. :(

@Veovis Watch for the February QCDN Newsletter, some potentially interesting changes coming up that may help your LS. ;)
 
Unfortunately, most of the server shun RP and choose to make it uncomfortable for others to do.

Most people choose to take RP to tells or party chat just because of that.
 
This is true.

I was part of a once Vibrantly active and very much busy RP Shell called CrimsonPiratesPG, which is pretty dead lately. The shell the NB Broke off from way back in the day, before my time actually. Anywho, Yes there are RPers on this server.

I've RP'd waiting on the Airship randomly, outloud. Some people are assholes, but I ignore there comments. Others may join in, or enjoy watching me RP. ^^ I once had someone compliement me by saying "Wow you make this game feel real!"

Heh. Reminds me of some of the first days in Jeuno for me.

Me and my sister used to sit in Upper Jeuno Cathedral every day and watch this group of people RP. It was very entertaining until they suddenly stopped. :(
 
Yea, us RPers are the minority on Quetz and get treated as such. Its all good though......even though it has forced us to do most of our RP in /party chat.

I can still remember the douchebags that came and crashed the RP wedding of Mai and me.

And Sculli, anything you can do to help out our shell would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to revitalize us since our last 'drama attack' but its been pretty hard. Were still hanging in there though. We just need more active members. *hugs Veovis* But the few that we do have our just spectacular and I wouldnt trade 'em for anything in the world.
 
Well I don't require a constant RP, in fact sometimes it gets way too confusing to somehow work little RL things (such as computer glitches lol) to everyday RP. Sometimes it's just a nice break to get with a group and tell them that I wanna beat the sh*t out some mobs lol! But the RP aspect really makes the game have a new dimension, and it's good to hear that there are at least some RPrs out there. And if you're looking for one, I'll be on soon :)

When you say RP, you mean Role playing right. Can't say I'm very big on that, FFXI is just another video game to me.
 
You don't wanna join this server.All people do on this server is try to keep each other from having fun.Also lots of people buy gil in tons so the AH is messed up.
 
Hey wolf......thats what its like on pretty much all the servers. Fairy has the screwed up economy even worse then Quetz...by far.

And yes......when I say RP I mean Roleplaying.
 
I tried it once and I hated it with a passion.
However if someone would start RPing I might join in for the heck of it, in a way Slizze is just a character I built inside my head anyway, in reality most peoples personalities are way different than that they show in game.

edit: Don't listen to WSM, our server doesnt have to screwed up economy if you compare to other servers out there.
 
rp is all well and good until you get a whole bunch of manthra's RP'ing female characters... it gets creepy...

Not really.....its all acting. Just like in the movie business. Sometimes women play men's roles and sometimes men play women's roles. If your mixing RP with RL then....yea....your doing something wrong.

Actually, my character and Mai's character are married in RP. Mai RPs as a female mithra....nothing wrong with it.

I don't believe this is true per se. People RP anywhere, gaia.com or whatever it's called has millions and millions of posts just from people RPing on a message board without to even have a game.

In FFXI one has plenty of background story to go by, the issue is that the majority of the players are not interested in RPing, and thus it'd be hard for RPers to keep their RPing up 100% of their playtime (which is true for many if not all MMOs).
 
Well......just to give everyone out there who doesnt know anything at all about RPing on FFXI an idea of what its like.....

Us Nightblades.....we dont just RP non-stop the whole time were in game.....we would never get anything done then, lol. All of our LS chat is OOC (Out Of Character) and for the most part I would say were more like a a social / RP shell......which I think to be honest most RP shells are like that.

Sometimes we plan out a time and place for RP and meet there to have some RP fun and continue in our character development and the development of our own personal stories.

Sometimes were just sitting around bored and decide to RP. If something major happens in the RP where it could possibly affect others who werent at that session, we post the RP we had on our message board for others to read.

When I first started playing FFXI (my first MMO) I had never RP'd before. Hell....I had never even played Dungeons and Dragons or any of that. Vide got me into RPing very shortly after I started FFXI. He started a RP LS called "Eternal". When I found the Crimson Pirates (another RP LS) I joined them also untill a heavy bulk of members broke off and created the Nightblades (so I kinda left Crimison Pirates and joined the Nightblades but would pop in on the CP (Crimsion Pirates) now and then just cause I still had friends there)

When the Nightblades almost collapsed, Lecan and I took control of it too keep it alive and all the members of Eternal joined the Nightblades.

I know.....yall probably dont care about any of that, lol. But I just figured it just shows how far i've come from never RPing before to where I am now. Its been a rocky road for us but we've always survived.
