She always had it, there was just never any reason to release it before. It's kind of funny, my friend is watching the subs and keeps telling me about all the cool stuff that's going on(I've downloaded the episodes but I'm not in the habit of watching them since I didn't for months due to filler), but he's acting like I haven't known exactly what's been going on for months now.

well, actualy she couldnt use it because of the Gigai that Urahara gave her. She lost almost all of her spirit power. She regained some of it in the Bount arc (ability to turn into Shinigami in the real world) and has now fully regained her powers. But no, she didnt use it before because she chose not to, she couldn't.

I know all of that, but she could have used it in the first episode; regardless, the way he said it sounded like she just learned how to do that, when she had been able to release her zanpakto for a long time, just for plot reasons she couldn't.

No, 13th squad still doesn't have a Vice Captain. Remember though, she can't become one because of Byakuya.

Yeah, my friend was pissed that 117 ended before he got to see Ikkaku's Ban Kai.

I was so excited when I saw it in anime form, but it's kind of a bit of a let down. Maybe because I'd seen it already in the manga. Either way, it's probably one of the most powerful ice/snow zampakto's in existance. Wait until you see her other move, it's a doozy.

I can't wait to see Ikkaku fight the Arrancar with his bankai. It's freaking amazing in the manga. I'm so glad we're just a few issues behind the manga right now.

(if you hadn't noticed, I'm a huge fan of Bleach).
 
Whoa whoa.... put a spoiler note up guys, seriously. Not everyone looking in this thread reads the manga. And for me... the Ikkaku fight was a HUGE surprise... I was fucking flipping out. I woulda been very pissed if someone had ruined that for me.

I can't wait to see the Ikkaku fight in the anime. :D Fight scenes just never look good in manga to me... but I can tell how awesome it will look in the anime from that. :3 I remember when reading the manga how I flipped out at Yumichika's comment during Ikkaku's fight though... so misleading. <.<;
