I posted this elsewhere, this is what I posted:

Alright, this has been plaguing me for years now and I'm using a shitty TV because of it.

Basically, I record a lot of stuff with a TV tuner like device, this is what I use:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815144028

I use Composite video going from my TV's "Out" cables to it, then via USB to my PC to record video and gameplay and stuff.

The TV I currently use is the only one in my house that has a general "out" output, the rest only have Video1, Video2 etc but they all obviously have S-video, which would allow me to use any of the TV's in the house, rather than the piece of shit that I currently use (which is beginning to go out, hence this post)

I've tried to connect a S-video cord from the S-video output to the Dazzle output before but the TV doesn't detect it.

The S-video port is directly over where my Video1 port is, so I figured it was connected to Video1. which seemed to prove true as if I connect a S-video cord, the device currently in my Video1 slot (a Wii right now) doesn't display video (the audio works)

I've tried connecting it, and going to Windows Media Maker, S-video just plain doesn't capture ANYTHING

I've tried other TV's too, it just doesn't work.

Anyone know why this might be happening? Is it my tuner, my card, PC? I really would like to get S-video working, it's higher quality and I would be able to finally ditch using this POS TV

halp.

What's the make and model of the TV you are using? Are you sure that this S-video port on the TV isn't an input and not an output?

It's some old old old toshiba from like 1997~

It probably is an input. I didn't think about that. I had another TV though, a Sharp HDTV that DID have S-video output and it didn't work there either.

Do you have audio hooked up as well? Most of the time, S-Video won't recognize unless you have the audio hooked up too.
