Sabers Fail?

How come the sabers sucked so much during the middle part of the season but early on and late on they did so well... im so confused o.o
 
I've always associated streaky good/poor play with equally poor coaching, but that's not 100% true all the time. Maybe they overachieved early, and felt like it was going to be smooth sailing from there, only to realize their shortcomings a little too late? I don't watch alot of Sabers other than when they play the Pens, but Ryan Miller was sidelined for an extended period of time this year, right? I also didn't hear much of Thomas Vanek's name after the All-Star break, seems like he kind of disappeared.

Yeah, Miller going down towards the end didn't help. It also didn't help with all the cap room we have and the chance to move Afinogenov, that they didn't pick up anyone at the trade deadline. Olli Jokinen to the Sabres would have been great. Maybe even a brash move for Vinny Lecavlier? Anyways, as a Sabres fan, I am disappointed that they didn't make the playoffs. Now I guess its on to rooting for the Capitals to win the cup.

but seriously a lot of it had to do with miller high ankle sprain. that bum of a goalie they had in was god awful.
as for vanak you stoped hearing from him as much after he broke his jaw.

Sabres do what now? Might be a bit early, but I smell playoffs for the blue and gold. It helps when you have a potential Calder Trophy winner on defense who is as big as Zdeno Chara, but skates 10x better. Let's Go Buffalo!
 
i actually want the sabers to keep winning. That means more business for my sports bar and more hours/tips for me. :)
 
Which bar? I may have been there after a game if it's in Buffalo (or Rochester).
 
I gotta get up to Buffalo sometime to catch a game, haven't been there since the '06 playoffs vs. Philly. Too bad the Sabres would have to go through Washington, Pittsburgh, and/or Jersey to get to the cup finals this year, or I'd be more excited about their chances.
