Salvage Cell Priority

I'm a BLM, WHM, BLU and RDM. Usually go as WHM. I can't do shit untill I get my magic.

And let me tell you, Salvage is damn fun from the moment I enter. I can pull things, I can kite things. Hell, I can be usefull and make potions for melee jobs to use. There's plenty of things a "useless" mage can do while the big mean melees beat things up.

Maybe you're right, I am making assumptions based solely on what I've read about the status effects and how things proceed. I play a mage to do things with magic, and I enjoy that immensely, and so a bit of frustration at what I enjoy most about my job being nuetralized perhaps colored the mindset I had in my previous posts. I'd be very interested in hearing more about your experiences as a mage in salvage and what you're able to do within the limitations of the status effects until they are removed.

The status effects are only something that hinders you at the first floor. There's still 4-6 floor to play a mage on xD

That's good to know as well. I was excited about Salvage when I read about the gear you can get and that you can do it so often, then when I started to think about what those status effects would mean to me as a mage I started to become rather disenchanted with the whole idea. The more you tell me though the more I feel the excitement growing within me again. ^^

Yeah, unfortunately mages are useless to start...but then, so is virtually every single job to begin with. I mean what jobs are there that get remotely decent h2h...WAR, NIN, THF and MNK?
You can't feel too bad about not being able to do anything at the start, since it's what most of the alliance will be feeling for a while too, y'know?

for THF give them range attack first if no ranger! very high accuracy with bloody bolts, and you can use all the enfeebling bolts as well. Very nice!

After our run in WallOfAegis, I've discerned that equip stuff drops way too fast to have any priority other than tanks lot what they need when it comes in, let everything else freedrop and bazaar what you don't need for 1g.

The main thing is, this is only an 18 person event. Tops.

Cells drop fast. Theres even ways to pop mobs that drop specific cells. Feeling Useless should end about 20-30 minutes in. That leaves you with over 70 minutes to enjoy it.

they only drop fast in bhafulau. Try doing arrapago remenants and you'll feel completely useless for a long time xD Attapago is easier with a group of 6 since you can unlock everyone as opposed to 6 people in a 18 person alliance ~.~

Our Salvage LS got up to floor 4 last night of Silver Sea remnant, had 10 people on the run, and had a priority system and people lotted/passed quickly and then we moved on.

Skaw pretty much had the priority list down pat, except whms should get the mnd before rdms or whoever main healer is.

Also, Drgs are good in Salvage since if they call their wyvern before going in, the wyvern stays out. We had an excellent MNK do most of the dmg for us in the start, and then tank got his abilities (PLD), but it's kind of useless without SJ cell, and weapon goes to one of those with a really good weapon, along with a str cell.

We got up to this room with Archiac gear mobs which look like blue robotic clusters and they are quite challenging. True sight/sound mobs too, and the other Archiac mob looked like a blue floating door which had undead mobs hanging around it.

I haven't tried a Salvage yet but these posts have some good guides to go by

Retired from Salvage for the time being until folks get better organized who gets what cells. Last run I didn't get a weapon the entire time (sam with full merits) .. neither did one of our war's, but yet there were mages running around with staff's and melee who do less dmg with weapons. Thanks for the guide, hopefully linkshells will use it.

WHM Priorities

I'm just posting from the WHM's perspective - as to what a White Mage would like unlocked, the priority, and the reasons why.

This doesn't mean other jobs may not have conflicting priorities, or that the alliance leader may not want to allot certain cells to others first, even if these are priorities for white mages - this is just what I would prefer to unlock, and my priorities as a whm. I'll also list them as "essential," "very very highly desirable," "really nice to have" or "wait for free lot time" items.

Essential Items:

1. Praecipitato (Unlocks Magic Use)
2. Spissatus (Max MP)

Very Very Highly Desirable Items:

3. Incus (Weapons) (For most 75 whms, this gives +10% cure potency and +10 HMP, minimum)
4. Cumulus (Body) (+1 Autorefresh, +10% Cure Potency, +5 hmp)
5. Duplicatus (Subjob) (Unlocks /BLM or /SMN, both of which can be very useful to the WHM)
6. Opacus Cell (Job Ability) (Restores Benediction, Divine Seal, Divine Veil and Devotion)
7. Virga (Ears/Fingers) (Gives 100-135 Max MP Boost for most whms, not counting other effects)

Really Nice To Have Items:

8. Castellanus (Head/Neck)(Lotsa MP, other good stuff)
9. Humilus (Max HP) (Keeps your friendly neighborhood whm from gettin killed too easily)
10. Waist/Back (As much as +90 Max MP plus other stuff)

Items I Can Wait To Lot On:

11. Legs/Feet (For me, extra MP and Reduced Cure Cast Time)
12. Undulatus (Ranged) (Boosts Max MP by 50 with Hedgehog)
13. Hands
14. Mind (lost mine a long time ago, haven't really missed it :D )
15. Intelligence (never had any to start with, never will 8) )
And all the rest

Not sure if this'll help anyone, but it might be useful info.

All the best,
Fire

man i see these posts and it just seems like so much fun :D i gotta do this when i find a group for it, but i still have a few questions, like is my h2h skill capped on warrior gonna hit much? also what would my roll in this be? plain dd? i saw that warriors should get JA back so that we can voke, does this mean we tank here, or just in the begining cause we can get voke without having to use a subjob?

Cell priority depends on what area and type of run you will be doing really..

SMN would need 1st abilities and magic if you are going to farm NMs in Silver Sea Remnants, other wise you need to have 5 suiciders on the same pull just for the first floor.

Klep, we might still have room for you in our Salvage shell if you wish to join.

Our shell just tried something new with organzing cell drops, and we are getting quite co-operative distributing them too.

We go by main pty, secondary and third pty. The first one in the first pty gets the cell drops they need, then whichever they don't need, they decide for a secondary person in their pty to lot it.

White mages get their magic first, and we have a brd in the first party so they get it second. Mostly we've had war/nin tank salvage, so the war/nin would get their SJ first and magic after the brd and whm.

It's better to have one person complete all they need first and then go in order from that so you don't have it spreaded out with 18 weaker people, but instead half the alliance or at least one pty full strengthened when your far in.

The first time we got to the third floor with a different cell priority system in silver sea, we had our drops go separate, and we have trouble killing the higher lvlled mobs there. With this new system, we easily managed to pwn the mobs up their with ease.

We were killing all the new Archaic mobs a lot easier, and we've decided to stick with this new system too.

It's just a suggestion for everyone to use, but it works well for us and hopefully others might agree with this cell priority distribution.
