Salvage pickup forum interest

So i was sitting there last night thinking about how much i wanted to go into salvage but at the same time i knew that it was not my static's regular salvage day when it hit me... why isnt there a good way to make a pick up party salvage group.

So here is the idea.

Maybe we could make a linkshell area where people are able to join if they desire and post basically classified ads about their character to a certian format so that they can be picked up for salvage. The forum would be a place where people would be able to seek for salvage on multiple jobs and for multiple times.

Say i want to go into salvage and go after route 3 lvl 35s (currently what my static is doing). Now for this i am prolly going to want a party of 6 so i will start by going to the most important section... monk ok well i am a monk so i look through the list of all the monks who are members and see artielange's post. He has vent, blackbelt, great gear. good merits, also wants route 3, and nothing on his schedule that would make it so that he may not be interested... So i look him up in game he says yes and i switch to the rdm section and look for the next person.

Now once i get my party of 6 i can make sure that everyone agrees to the lot rules before i go in and we get going. Most likely it will be like this is the goal choose one item lets go.

Now as far as specifics go people can sign up in any category that they have the job for and Javir has agreed to make the vent info to our server semi public so that anyone who is doing salvage is allowed to use it. (of course donations to keep it this way are always appreciated and we will kick squatters who are not doing salvage if it is necessary) The forum will be set up hopefully with each job listed and then a general discussion area. Also if you have any complaints or positive comments about someone who you did salvage with you can post it directly on their classified thread.

The reason that i am doing it this way instead of just joining a static is that i already have far too many obligations and i am looking for a way that i can continue to try and make progress and at the same not feel bad if i have to work one night or if i want to go at 10 am rather than 10 pm one day.

If enough people respond positively to this post i will work with the qcdn staff to make this forum a reality so that quetz as a whole can hopefully work towards getting more salvage done.

Also it may be a way for people to make new salvage statics.. you know a little try before you buy type action.

I'll tell you what JPs do with pickups.

They choose the job they recruit with shouts, only take the perfect and needed jobs. Thats why a ls woudln't work. 90% of the time the pt is a 7 man group consisting of mnkx2 sam brd rdm whm thf ( thats the perfect salvage team).

The leader is guarrated to have the piece he is after, no one else can lot it. He is also responsible for doing the leading part. People won't join his pickups again if the leader fails.

He recruits players willing to lot on other pieces that drop in the run, usually he doesn't take more than two people lotting on the same piece.

Most of the time, JP pickups are made by salvage veterans that know about salvage, thats why they are very successful. Some times they are a static that is missing one member and is shouting for a 6th/7th. That's how I got into a run with Coofoorin two times lol, this guy is amazing with his relic GK and bow...

i think when you shout for salvage pickups, the following things should be included in your shouts as well as in your search comment:

1. the job needed
2. the route you will take
3. what items will drop
4. how many people are after which item

for example:

Silver Sea
1W, 2SE, 3E, 4E, Boss <- route
35: Usu head:2, Mori legs:1, Ares legs:0, Usu body:1 <- 35s and how many are lotting for them
25: Ares hands, Mori Hands, Ska head, Ska body, Usu feet, Mar legs, Mori Hands <- 25s, optional
now 4/6 looking for THF/BRD

i think route and 35s are a must for information, 25 is optional

i realize that's a lot of info, you can split them up between your shouts and search comments, like jobs needed in shouts, routes and 35s in your search comments.

usually when you are leading, you get a precedence for a item

shouting and getting people is the easy part, but leading and executing well together in salvage is another, that's why i recommend a static or a LS doing it, the longer you do it together, the more efficient you will be

It might actually be a positive thing. If there was some sort of daily posts, you could have individuals logging on during whatever time and saying, "Hey, today I'm available (insert time), I can bring this job to the table, and I'm after such and such gear." And....if someone wasn't in whitegate, you could look and see, oh well this person was interested, let me send him a tell, they fit into what I'm gonna be doing.
