i'm gonna install my game soon but not sure what nation to start. the book said pick a race that best represents you so i picked Mithra. i also wanna be a warrior since i'm really an agressive person. but the book doens't give any advice on what nation i should choose for that!

Anyone know where i should pick? thanks -.^

Mithra tend to start out in Windurst, where they watch over the more playful tarutaru mages. With so many pint-sized hippies running around, we need warrior women to watch our backs. Feel free to join us in our lovely city. :D

Eh though im Tarutaru i started out in Sandy as a mage i don't know why but it turned out nicley since i was closer to valkurm than Windy.

Also it wasn't as big and as complicated as Windy :P i still don't have windy completely memorized.

( . .); I hate windhurst... sooo big. I never go to that town unless it's for a mission from CoP or Bastok or BCNM

as a mithra though, you'll get a nice starting ring for starting as that race from your hometown.

It honestly doesn't really matter. You may want to read up on the three cities' background info and their governments and such (because these leaders are what you have to put up with for your country missions), and pick the one that most appeals to you. Or just start in Windurst to get your free ring.

Note that you can (for a fee in gil) switch countries at your convenience provided you're not in the middle of a mission, if you decide you don't like the country you picked. For the vast majority of gameplay, however, which particular country you have allegiance to, doesn't matter.

( . .); I wanted the pretty ring... but at the same time I wanna punch out the Bastok Prez ></) curse you pretty sparkly things.....

me being mithra. I like sandy because Ronfaure has plenty mobs to kill and dont really have to move alot thought your lvl you can stay in ronfaure till about lvl 8 them move to La Theine Plateau for 9 and 10 then to Valkurm Dunes till 20. This game is pretty easy to get around in so just read the manuel see which city you will like the best and pick it. The main thing is the story in the mission and they all have diffent storys.

I would chose Windhurst since I assume you will want to be a mithra. Mithra and Tarutarus get a Windhurstian Ring when they start in that nation, as do Elvaans in Sand'oria and Galka and Humes in Bastok. If you decide later in the game, Windhurst is not your favorite choice, you always have the option to change nations but beware, the cost to change nations can vary depending on the weekly national ranking.

I would also change my opinion based on the feel of the cities and job that I chose too. Maybe even crafts. Certain jobs can get more gear via Conquest Points from a specific nation, guilds are only located in a few places if you chose to craft a lot, or if you prefer a specific atmosphere of the nation. Windhurst tends to be a wooded and quiet/friendly area in my opinion. Sand'Oria is in the layout of a castle with gates and main castle in the center. Bastok is hard to describe but its nice and my second favorite next to Windhurst. There is always the option of creating the character in one nation, take a quick stroll around the town and if you decide you do not like it, delete the character and recreate in another city until you find the one that suits you most.

if you want the lvl 1 rare/ex ring that you start out with, since you are a mithra, I would choose Windurst. If you go with any other nation you won't get the ring. (Tarutaru get the ring also if they start in windurst).

If you go elvaan, choose san'doria if you want the ring.

If you go Hume/Galka, choose bastok if you want the ring.

My main is a mithra and I started in Bastok. ^^

I was going to start in Windy at first, but I realized, I liked Bastok more. I didn't get the ring obviously, but I didn't really care. >.>

Just choose the nation you like more ^^ you can change nations after.

you can also just use a few CP to buy the rings so.. meh

I'd go with the advanced job you'll be leveling first.

I say this because of the gear you can get through conquest points is different for the countrys.

If you wanna be a PLD or DRK or NIN with heavy armor go sandy
Any melee with medium (not plate) armor and such should go with bastok
Mages/light melee (cloth, leather) windurst

I was a DRG and in sandy. I was always buying the bastock armor because sandys plate armor was only for PLD DRK and occasionaly NIN.

If al your worring about is ease of use go Sandy, they obviously have good engineers cuase there city planers actually planed that city.

Bastok is the place to be. Actually though all the cities are pretty big. Hell I didn't even know about the Bastok Markets until I was like level 18 coming back from the dunes to change jobs and I walked into the markets entrance. I was like where the hell am I? How do I get to my MH? I figured it out eventually though.
