I didn't feel like there was a place for a thread about this.. but i am deeply disturbed at how the qcdn community is acting in regards to Sans being a RMT , and due to the fact that he is a "cool guy" to some here they are making it seem like this is something that everyone here supports.. I'm sorry I don't care who you are.. if it was you or anyone else that is known around here if you came out and said that you were rmt.. you would no matter how cool you are or what nice things you have done for people would be the lowest of low.. I think that that thread should be moved somewhere else and the community discuss this.. I'm sorry for this wall of text I'm just trying to get everything at once. Give the community members that feel this is an outrage a chance to say so. I myself am disgusted at the number of people that are OK with this. Kinda makes me wonder aside from windower what other cheats are these so called " cool people" using. You just never know do you

The reason noone expressed bad feeling in the thread was because 1) It's against the rule to crap GT threads 2) the thread was locked. The first time I saw it it was locked.

Now, I think what he did is pretty shit. On the other hand if he did not amass his gil by buying to rmt then it's not as bad. If Sanoske reads this thread I'd be interested in knowing if he got this gil only though crafting. And if you do money with 2 level 100 crafts .

I don't think it's right and I don't think it's cool. Just because people aren't "ripping him a new asshole" doesn't mean they condone what he did. In fact, I recall quite a few people voicing their disagreement. Maybe people who knew him are a bit shocked and are refraining from responding because he is a friend of theirs and they don't want to say anything they might regret. A response is a little trickier when it's someone you care about.

I don't know him. So no, I didn't bother to respond. And since he's already gone, I don't think it'll matter to him one bit who likes it and who doesn't, to be frank. So what's the point in wasting breath?

Don't get it twisted. What I said in there is exactly going along with Pchan's first reason. You cannot crap GT threads. You did the right thing by bringing it in here, regardless of the thread being locked. I used to mod GT, I goddamn hate it when people crap threads. Fucking selling gil is stupid as hell. He's no better than the RMT that plague our, and many others, server.

I'm happy as hell I never bought anything from him now that I know this is where my gil would've gone.

I second what Morwen said about bringing it here. That was undoubtedly the right thing to do.

Considering the company that Sanoske kept in his last days on the server (i.e. Demetrios's shell Pansies), the fact that he was selling gil doesn't exactly come as a shocker. Perhaps that was also a factor in why hardly anyone said anything.

Likewise, the GT board rules are restrictive against that kind of thing, although his OP could have been *potentially* considered a type of flamebait - that's a grey area though, so interpretation was given and the thread was locked.

Also, consider his OP compared to say, Chasym's, when he came out about his hacking the game. It was a minor spot on the end of his post, as opposed to "yes, I used to go through KRT, getting abjurations out of Treasure Chests."

Whether or Sano was a cool guy or not is moot at this point. He's retired, he sold gil, it must have been worth it to him, but like someone said, "I'm sure the person he sold it to made more selling it back to the populace".

I'm also glad I never bought a [Sanoske] item.

Pretty much what all of you have said. Retired and gone, so the opinions of my actions in game are the least of my worries. The people who actually matter to me on a personal level (talk/interact to outside the game) are cool with me still, regardless of their views on selling gil.

And yes Pchan, everything I made was from crafting. Those who know my crafting record know I had enough big item HQ luck for any 3 crafters.

So, this flame is well based assuming the general population looks down on RMT (which is true). However, you won't really receive any argument from me.

Yes RMT's are bad but he didn't necessarily do anything to hurt other player's gaming. Things like botting, hacking, and monopolizing farming. (At least I don't think he did.) Just my opinion. :x

Well, technically... I assisted in keeping the struggling RMT companies alive. Although, the largest problem with RMTs was the NM/farming monopolization/market crashing, none of which I did. So really, the only thing I'm helping is increase the number of idiots with more gil/better gear than they should ever have.

Also, if you know you'll be leaving one day and decide to start selling off your gil, knowing you could get ~$4,000 for it OR $0.00 for it...Well, the numbers righteous FFXI fanatical purists would surely dwindle. 4 grand, or nothing...There's not much to even consider there. It's not like it's a hundred bucks or something. It's a good chunk of money that any person could actually use in RL. I can't shake my head at Sano's actions when I see the reality of that situation. It has nothing to do with the game, and everything to do with 4 thousand dollars, cash money in your pocket. As neat-O as this game is, fuck the game, lololol.

I completely agree. I worded it badly in the initial thread, but honestly, if you put so much time into a game, and finally decide to leave.. if you have the option of making something good (in his case, REALLY good) out of all of the time..

If you, at this point (generally speaking) would still oppose this and not do it, all power to you. I respect you and your fortitude incredibly. But I wouldn't knock someone who did it, either.

Me? I'm not too sure what I would do. It won't happen anyway, since I was/am broke in the game in the first place and my financial situation isn't too bad either. It would depend, I would think.

RMT isn't the problem it used to be, and honestly if someone would rather spend money they earned in RL so they don't have to earn it ingame, who am I to say they shouldn't. I would prefer that anyone selling gil cut out the middle man, IE the RMT companies. Would make a hell of a lot more money and there is really no damage being done.
