perhaps... but the fact that she didnt even know what canada's prime ministers name was, especially when citing canada as one of the reasons her foreign policy is so strong is pretty funny. That and she can see russia...

Slightly off topic, but how many people really know the PM of Canada outside of Canadians?

Probably not a lot, but then most people aren't running for one of the highest offices in the land.

you would think that the gov of a border state would know the PM of CA regardless of whether or not they are running for VP

the fact that she IS runnig just makes it more sad.

Meh, don't worry. After tommorow you won't have to worry about it. Man, I sure am going to miss those Tina Fey appearances on SNL.....

Stephen Harper.

I'll see your Stephen Harper and raise you a Gordon Brown. I bet most people still think it's Tony Blair.

A lot of people know Canada's Prime Minister's name and other countries leaders names. They're just not American.

That's exactly it. Now, the real question can anyone tell us our southern neighbours president (or PM?) Mexico.

Felipe Calderon. I'm pretty sure i spelled it right.

Please don't make sweeping generalizations about a country with over three hundred million citizens. There are many intelligent, educated Americans.

Edit: Makelith beat me by a few seconds. ; ;

There are, but the vast majority are just not informed at all. Sure, you and I and people like us know the names of foreign PMs, presidents, monarchies and other dignitaries, but sadly I would wager a large percentage of my paycheck that many can not even tell you who the congressional representative for their own district is.....

Sweeping generalizations like how Canadians says "eh" and put maple syrup on everything?

lol.

Really though, if your school system taught you about anything outside of your country, that's awesome.

I was watching the Howard Stern show (pretty sure that was it) and he went out and asked a bunch of people why they were voting for who.

A bunch of people said they were voting not for Barack Obama, not because he was the democrat, but because they agreed with his idea to stay in Iraq until the war is over and they loved his VP pick of Sarah Palin.

A bunch of other people said they were voting for John McCain because they didn't like the fact that a black man would become ruler of the country. Also talked about how they didn't want a woman as a VP. They also didn't like his name was so close to several middle eastern people that America isn't too fond of.

Perhaps. I think you're more likely to find people who can name the leaders of foreign countries rather than their own representatives.

I'd never heard those before, but when is maple syrup a bad thing? lol

I taught myself, actually. The only time my curriculum dealt with anything outside of the US was in History.

But...don't you?

Honestly, though, I wonder how many times a day QEII gets quizzed on "who leads which nation currently?!" Sure, it's part of their job to meet foreign dignitaries and leaders, but don't they (they, being ANY leader of any nation) generally have some yes-man standing within earshot to tell them who they're currently meeting, who their wife/husband are, who their kids are, how many times they've eaten at their local McDonald's, and how frequently they have sold arms to a third-world nation?

But...don't you?

Wrong, there are a couple provinces that to have a slight tendency to use the word "eh", just like there a states that can't help but say "y'all". I've never said "eh" unless it was out of sarcasm.

I was being facetious :p

And I'm right there with you about regional stereotypes.

Born in Idaho, yet lived most of my life in South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Virginia.
