Now, I am a melee newb.. my highest is 46 SAM then 32 WAR.. Even moreso I am a total Thf newb, level 17.

So.. I was told ONLY the first hit counts on SA.. right? So like, I'll use RDM since I farm a lot as RDM/THF

SA does not work on Elemental Based WS's correct? (excluding Sam, according to SE their elem based WS's are "built in" so count fully) So that means SA + Burning Blade/Shining Blade would do nothing but waste SA..

Now that leaves Fast Blade, Flat Blade and Spirits Within.

Flat Blade sucks for damage.. period.
Fast Blade is 2 hits, but I have done crazy damage SA Fast Blade..

Is Spirits influenced by SA?

I am just curious to if I ever level Drk or Mnk... SA Combo does great! But.. what about Raging Fists? Guillotine? Any MANY hit WS? I do not mean in exp, I will never sub thf pre-60 for any reason in exp.

Is SA worth using with a multiple hit WS, or would it be the same to just SA, hit them, then WS?

Stupid drawn out question but I am just curious..

also, I am unsure.. but if I were to for some reason level Thf to 60, sub war.. would SA + Vorpal Blade be decent for fun? (I know Dancing Edge is better but I ove Vorpal Blade ;p I just got it)

and for TA... does the damage multiplier REQUIRE a partner? basically, can a solo Thf run up and SATA a mob and still do high dmg?

SA will work only if you're behind the opponent. If you're farming this may get to be a bit tough to do if you're also tanking :B For Trick attack, you'll need to be a higher lvl THF obviously. However, I believe you do in fact need a partner to stand in front of you at the time.

Yeah only the first hit gets the damage modifier in sata.
Sata doesnt work with most ele ws
Sata does not work with spirits within
Sata is used with most multi ws on non thf for self preservation pure and simple. The guarenteed hit is nice but its really all about not becoming an instant tank after using your ws and dying.
I have no clue about the vorpal blade but since thf have E rating in sword I doubt you would get anywhere near the damage from vorpal blade as with dancing edge might be good for farming though since base damage on daggers is pathetic.

Yes trick attack does require a parter if it didnt thf could simply sata whenever they felt like it and become instant tank/backuptank since we have more evasion than ninja. You can sata your npc though or at least TA on him/her.

Now, I'm not a thief main so take my information with a grain of salt.

As far as I understand it, SA will stack with all hits of the WS when you're a THF main. The first hit rule only applies if you are subbing THF.

Second,
It doesn't stack with the elemental WSs, you are correct. As far as Spirits Within, I'm 99% sure that nothing affects it except TP% and HP.

For Multi-hit WSs, the SA only applies to the first hit (I think).

If anyone notices I'm wrong, feel free to point it out.

Basically all the info above is right, if you are rdm/thf you can get a massive SA Fast Blade by casting sleep on the mob, then disengage, get behind it and then do SA Fast Blade before it wakes up.
As far as TA is concerned when subbing thf, you only get a damage modifier if you stack it with SA and are behind the mob. THF main can use TA alone for nice damage at lvl 60 and above, that is when you get the job trait Assassin.
Also keep in mind that SA damage on THF main is DEX based while TA is AGI based.

On a *slightly* off topic question which has probably been answered before:

Do the DEX and AGI modifies come into effect when you hit, or when the ability is used?

On the hit. I've tested. Would be awsome if it was the ability use tho.

Kinda skipped 90% of this thread, but SA doesn't affect Spirits. Spirits does constant dmg based on HP, it will go through shadows, def buffs, invincible, everything.

All WS are elemental based, but not all do elemental damege. SATA has full effect on single strike non-elemental dmg WS, half effect on 2 fold+ WS(i think it might just be for non thfs only) and maybe little to no effect on WS that do elemental Dmg

The facts:

THF main gets a bonus from the THF's total DEX, as well as a guaranteed hit and guaranteed Critical, if hitting a mob from behind with Sneak Attack. If it's a multi-hit WS, ALL aspects of Sneak Attack will apply only to the first hit. This is why Shark Bite does in one hit what Dancing Edge and Evisceration do with 6 and 5 hits, respectively (until your STR/Att overwhelm your target, at which point SB starts to fall behind).

/THF sub gets no damage bonus whatsoever on Sneak Attack. The same rules apply to the forced Critical and guaranteed hit - first hit of a multi hit WS only. If a DRG/THF does SA Penta Thrust, one hit will Critical and hit for sure, and the rest will follow the normal rules of accuracy with a slight chance of a critical.

THF main Trick Attack gets a bonus based on the THF's total AGI if someone is present between the Thief and the mob. At level 60, the Thief gets a job trait (Assassin) which adds the forced Critical and guaranteed hit properties - identical in every way to Sneak Attack's, right down to the first-hit only limitation - to Trick Attack. The hate transfer effect of Trick Attack, however, is not limited like Sneak Attack's critical. All hate from a Trick Attack will be pushed onto the target.

/THF sub gets no bonuses of any kind when using Trick Attack. Hate transfer only. This is still not limited to the first hit of a multi hit WS, however - all hate from the entire move will transfer fully.
