It seems I'm not too savvy when it comes to repairing and updating computers. Last night I was able to completely destroy my home computer, so I get the joy of reinstalling everything. Don't ask how I did it, because you'll shake your head in shame. :crazyest:

Anyways, to my question. I still have the Playonline/SE folder on my second hard drive, and was curious if it's possible to pull off my macros from there. Again, concerning my lazy behalf, I didn't do that Ctrl + Alt + Shift + B or w/e is needed to save macros.

Any help is appreciated, I'm really not looking forward to making a shit load of macros for multiple jobs and job combinations.

C: > Programs > Playonline > SquareEnix > FFXI > User.

Copy & Paste that whole file. It includes your options, preferences, and all your macros.

Did this without the search function enabled...

Thanks tips, this is exactly what I was looking for. Also, congratulations on finding it without the search function enabled. Aren't you just the sleuth.

Secondly, is there any way I am able to use some old files from the FFXI folder that would cut down the update/downloading when I reinstall?

About the best you can do is save yourself the download of files that have been updated since the original media, but not since the last time you started the game. You can do a straight across copy of the game, but without access to the registry its not an easy process (loading the reg hive remotely is not a lot of fun).

You will still have to sit through the fun "check" portion, but you can cut down on the download time, as copying will be much faster than downloading. In short, it will still be faster than updating every single file from the original media. I would recommend the following:

1) Install FFXI from the media, including all expansions.
2) Simply copy the saved PlayOnline directory right over the top of your newly installed version.
3) Start it up normally.
4) Acquire beer, imbibe, watch TV / browse web.

Not to mention you probably get about 10g of storage back on that old drive for other uses after your are done. ^^

Thanks,
