My computer has been running like crap for the past few months, so I figured it's time for something a FFXI player dreads: reformatting. Hours and hours of updates once again. Ugh.

Anyways, I'm backing up all the files I want to keep onto my iPod. And I was wondering, can I backup a file that has my macros on it? I belive I heard something about this before. Anyone have any answers on this?

Yep, go to Program Files/Playonline/SqaureEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/USER. The USER folder *should* have all your macros in it. Reason I say *should* is that it saved my main character's macros, but I dunno if any macros you may have with mules will be saved. I would think they would though. Anyway the whole folder is less than a meg in size so you'll have plenty of room on an iPod.

Yeah. My mules only have the default macros like "/sh "ZOMG MONSTER HALP" and all that. I'm only concerned with Swishiee.

Thanks for the info.

if you press crtl+alt+shif+b on the character select screen I think you can save macros online. crtl+shift+alt+r restores them
(Map marker data stored too)

OMG if that works i <3 you dave
That will make playing on multiple systems so much easier
I just half has macro's that aren't the "main system"

Wha?!?! you can save your macros like that? I have to retype them everytime I play since I use different computers everytime! I've been using bard too!:shok:

Where does that save it to? The /USERS directory?

No... it saves it online.

I'm pretty sure you need an open character select slot for it to work.

I just think the ctrl alt shift B(R) works on same platform, so you can have 4 sets saved but you can load restore the sets to another platform from the 1 they were originally made on, not sure though.

Ohhhh. Duh. :P

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Edit: This would help for when I play on the PS2. The whole two times a year.
