I just found out from North Alabama'a local news that a Huntsville City School bus carrying 30-35 kids to tech school, fliped over the edge of an overpass going over I-565.

No word on fatalities yet but but ~25-30 students are Seriously or Criticly injured. If any off have the time just throw up a quick prayer for the familys of these 25~30 kids. Cause this kinda tragity so close to the Holidays is just a horrible thing for a family to go through

Yeah thats terrible, id assume fatalities but dont wish for them, that really does suck for them and their family/freinds.

Best of luck to the survivors and the familys of the departed ; ;

I always find these bus accidents tragic.

HOWEVER.

The in-bus cameras. The way they record, so that the things outside the bus can't really be seen, so that you can't really see the motion. So when a bus rolls over, you just see all the kids get shoved to one side of the bus...

the thing was is that the Bus fliped over the overpass and fell about 2 storys into the a busy Road, landing on its front end smashing the engine flatter than a pancake, then continuing to roll..

i doubt they are getting the camera feed from this accident

I just saw this on our local news feed too :(

My thoughts and prayers go out to these kids and their families.

aw damn that is sad new, nothing else brings tears to my eyes but harm done to innocent children. How can this happen?

They just talked about this on our local news. 3 kids are dead, and some more crtically injured. From what they said, another student from the high school who was driving back veered over in front of the bus, and the bus veered into the guard rail and went through it and head first to the ground, sad ; ;

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (AP) -- A school bus packed with high school students smashed through a guardrail along an overpass Monday and crashed nose-first 30 feet below, killing three teenage girls and injuring at least 30 others, some critically, authorities said.
A car driven by another high school student apparently came close to or struck the bus, causing it to plow through the concrete rail on the elevated section of Interstate 565 and crash onto Church Street below, said Police Chief Rex Reynolds. Two girls died at the scene, and a third died at a hospital.
Students on the bus, which had no seat belts, were screaming when rescue workers arrived. "They were thrown all over the bus," said Fire Chief Dusty Underwood. Some had to be pulled from the crushed front of the vehicle. (Watch how the crash has left the town in shock -- 1:40 )
More than 30 students and the bus driver were taken to Huntsville Hospital, which became a hectic trauma center with emergency physicians and staff called in to help as ambulances brought in the severely injured.
Christina Collier, 18, and Nicole Ford, 17, died at the scene, police said. A third, Tanesha Hill, 17, died at the hospital, a hospital official said.
"This is a heartbreaking tragedy," Gov. Bob Riley said in a statement.
Frantic parents went to the scene, where some students sat dazed or lay draped in white sheets, or went to the hospital to find their children. (Watch officials describe the bus crash -- 1:16 )
Hospital officials said staff members had trouble identifying some of the more severely injured students who were unable to talk and had no identification on them.
Before help arrived, terrified students tried to climb from the wreckage.
"They were falling on each other. People were screaming, yelling, crying," said LaWanda Jefferson, 16, whose left arm was fractured and face was bruised. "I was scared, panicking and just getting ready to cry."
Some children used cell phones to call their relatives shortly after the bus hit the ground, Jefferson among them.
"All I could hear was screaming in my ears," her grandmother, Doris Harris, said. "Screaming and crying and her saying something about the bus."
The bus was taking students from Huntsville's Lee High School to the Center for Technology, where students can receive special science and math credits.
At least three survivors were in critical condition, hospital officials said.
The bus driver was in critical condition, authorities said, though the police chief said hospital workers were able to speak with the driver.
A Toyota Celica driven by another Lee High School student was the only other vehicle involved, and investigators had spoken with the car's driver as well as witnesses, police spokesman Wendell Johnson said. He declined to say whether charges would be filed.
The damaged car was still at the crash site Monday afternoon.
Jefferson told the AP that before the crash, the passengers had been talking, joking and laughing. Then she saw a car speed by to the right, and suddenly she was flying across the bus, she said.
"The bus went to the side, and I guess it went over," she said. "When it was falling ... I was just glad when it hit the ground."
She said that if there had been seat belts on the bus, "most folks would not have gotten injured like this."
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the wreck. The agency has said that school buses are designed to protect occupants without the need for seat belts.
However, NTSB board member Debbie Hersman said at a news conference Monday night that the board last week added school bus safety to its list of most wanted transportation safety improvements. She said the board is recommending that new standards be devised to improve safety when buses are involved in rollover crashes.

thats terrible ;\

i dont get why high school kids think its funny to do stupid shit like that. Thank god the deaths were so low... they are lucky they all werent killed.

Because high school kids are immune to everything. It will never happen to them.

I don't know why you bolded that part Vand. I don't think the kids on the bus had anything to do with it. I think that retarded Celica needs to learn to drive. I hope they revoke that driver's license for a good while. [And I mean the Celica, not the Bus Driver.] I don't think the busdriver had much choice - although I assume an investigation will be completed, and charges, if necessary filed appropriately.
