Scorpion Harness Ruckus (Christmas maddness)

I never posted this in the flameboard cause it would probably get too ugly,So let's hear some clear minded opinions about this outragous occurance.....

1. I told Hiri earlier that in his search messege he had put up an offer for his Scorpion Harness for 1.1 million gil. Him being a Japanese friend of mine he probably never understood what i was trying to tell him. An hour later we kill a King Behemoth and return to Jeuno....

2. So in Jeuno i'm hanging with Hiri and Kurei and Kurei /tells me something like "Help Hiri 1.1 mil, <please> <teacher> Hiri 1.1 mil ".. So at first i think he wanted me to school Hiri about the difference between 1.1 mil and 11 mil. After he included the word "<trade> (with the consumers name)".... I check Hiri and the Harness is gone, and i realize Kurei is asking me in distress to contact this buyer casuse the buyer speaks english.

3. Transition between the Harness and the 1.1 mil was done by (key word) "trading". So at first glance Hiri completed the transition, as 1,100,000 can easily be mistaken as 11,000,000 at a glance.


4. Responding to the request to contact the consumer, i contact him. The conversation went something like this....

<Anttaru> Hello (without revealing the consumers name cause this is not the flameboard)... It is to my understanding that you have purchased a Scorpion Harness for 1.1 mil from Hiri, this was a terrible mistake.

<Consumer> So what are you posing as a GM or something ?

<Anttaru> No. My friend has mistakenly (key word again) "Traded" you a Scorpion Harness, for 1.1 million and he is deeply crushed about it now lol. I was asked to contact you about it.

<Consumer> I understand. But he offerend it for 1.1 mil. You can't just sell your offer then take it back.

<Anttaru> Yes, that was his mistake. He meant to write 11 million. It would mean the world to him if you gave it back.

Kurei sends shouts <........> <steal> <Scorpion Harness> <Theif> @ 1-7 <Lower Jeuno> <everyone> NA JP <gather together>

<Consumer> Well i already gave it to my brother, It's too late, i can't get it back now.

<Anttaru> Well if you are going to give it back that's up to you. It would mean alot to my friend if you did though.


There was a scene in Lower Jeuno with shouts and opinions from outsiders. Some were saying the other 10 million shout be paid, or the harness she be refunded.

Others poked fun at it and thought it was an ok ordeal and it should be left as is.

This is not a what if post. This really happened today. What would you do if you were the Consumer ?
 
So he put 1.1 mil in the search message, and then traded it for 1.1 mil too? How do you make the same number mistake twice? >.>
 
His fault to be honest. If I was the guy who bought it I wouldn't give it back and I certainly wouldn't pay the rest of the gil.
 
Look, this isn't a very hard question at all.

Ifyou put something up on the AH for 1.1 million when it cost 11 million, and someone bought it for 1.1 million... well, consider it a loss.

If given the opportunity to buy a SH for 1.1 million, I'd be a fool not to take it, even to the sellers remorse later on. Sorry, but if it's that dear to the seller, then maybe he should have been much more careful in the transaction.


Should pay more attention to those pesky little commas separating 1,100,000 and 11,000,000.

Consider it a loss, and go get another venomous claw or whatever.
 
1.1M, it's a done deal.

In real life, when companies screw up with pricing, and they notice before they deliver, they cancel your order. Once you got the stuff for cheap you get to keep it.
 
I really feel for your friend, but it was his fault. Like Tyrath said, he even made the mistake twice. I once paid 40,000 for something that was 4,000 by mistake, and heck, at the AH it asks you like 3 times if you want to complete the transaction. I was pretty pissed at myself but I didn't track down the seller and ask for my money. I know that amount is no comparison to 11 mil, but hey, sometimes you just have to be more careful and pay attention to detail.

The contraversy is not bad at all to deal with, I know from personal experience lol. And since he is a friend with Kurei, people will probably be happy that you are screwing him over.
 
When im putting an expensive piece of merch on the AH, i alllllways check the numbers again. After all of the horror stories ive heard on this and other boards it comes second nature to me. If you dont care enough to check the price, and make the same mistake TWICE, then you deserve to lose 10m on your SH.

Its unfortunate that its your friend, but thats the way things happen.
 
What a dick, nevertheless I would have given it back. Some people are assholes, no matter what time of year.

Even from a mistake, it is his fault...but still...

Yeah i'd give it back no matter what. but if that was me i would be asking like 1000 times to make sure the price it right lol
 
even if it was Kurei himself, if it was lucifar or serise, if it was rlslr right after he mpk'd me i'd give it back, i've overbid on stuff before and had it returned to me and i would give the same courtesy to anyone. anyone who wouldn't because of this guys language or choice in friends is a pathetic lowlife and represents the scum of the server. there goes another wedge between the JP and NA players. /sigh

As been said, his own bad.
It's sad, really, but it's the way it works.
Just about everyone is a greedy fucker in this game.
I spent all gil I had on a freaking katana just because my game lagged (which is why my Nin is now 62 and not 37).
I talked to the jp who sold it to me but he had already spent all the gil, even though he had only been online for 10 seconds...

So, what I have learned is that if you fuck up you're fucked.

In my world he would either get his SH back, or get the other 9.9M.
But I dont rule this game, so he gets to live with his mistake.

Hopefully he's good enough friends with Kurei.
Cuz we all know Kurei has enough money to spare 10 mil or so :P

I don't care what other people think. Two wrongs don't make things right and Ive always followed that. It's like when people /poke me about WSM...it's really annoying, some people think I should hate him or something o_O; Shit, why would I bother? We get along fine

Some people with no lives simply don't forgive or forget. Kinda hurting if you ask me.
 
lol thank you Dua. Coming from you it's valuable insight. I cared less when it happened elsewhere, (even tho it's different the case it's still simular in a way except you stood for what you felt was right and Hiri stung himself). When someone at my table makes a mistake like this, i would like to see them get their stuff back, just as we all would like to see our friends mistakes undergo repair.

If i get a few more pages i would like to take all the voters names and conduct a test of Karma, to see if such a thing exists. Of coarse there is no good or bad in the matter, but maybe a shocking result.

I supose in the end it all depends on the person your dealing with. One would see it as getting hurt, another would see it as hurting others.To look after our own well being is not driven by greed, and to be generous is not to deprive our dignity.

I personally support any act that secures trust. A Server with an entire community that shares absolutly every possession, is a paradise we'll never experience. OMG i'm hopeless !
 
That's the problem Ant, people on our server dont care about the person standing next to you.
I cant say it's better on any other server since I haven't been there.

But it seems to me people think this is just a game so I can be as much of a dick as I want because who cares?


I dont beleive in god or heaven or anything, but I really, really hope there is such a thing and every little action counts when you get up there.

Not that I have been an angel in my life, but I'm very well comfortable with going to hell, I just hope to get some company, cuz I know a good bunch who deserves it.
 
He asked for 1.1mil and he got 1.1mil. There's no controversy. How many "controversies" could there be if everyone changed their mind on their asking prices on the AH, post sale? A done deal is a done deal.
