i think a lot of you are missing one distinct point when you ask how something like this could happen.

it's not always easy to convert from american system of counting to the ones that japanese and chinese use.

eg:
1man = 10000 and not 1000 (like 1k)
11,000,000 = 110(man) ~> 110,00000

if you take this into consideration, and the fact that switching between the two can be pretty difficult if you're not used to it, the mistake of advertising 1.1 mil can be pretty easily understood.

Dua its not about contravorsy you cheapo.This game is suppose to be fun and people are suppose to be nice to each other.People are suppose to be fair to each other and have fun why?? because its a fucking game.Let's face it people don't play games because they don't have a life... sometimes they play it because they just want something other than real life which is not always what you want it to be.So now in this fantasy world you wanna have fun and acquire everything you can that you couldn't in real life.Like ever since my friend died my grades went to shit n all i did was play FFXI... cuz i think it took my mind off from stuff more than alcohol ever could.
If u wanna be the best and make tons of money you should play a solo game and guess what... you'd have the whole world to you.Not everyone is as stupid and "rude???" as you are.Hiri probably worked his ass off for the harness and now he sold it for w/e by mistake.I really think you should give the harness back because in my opinion its better to have a 10k worth of body armor than keeping someone's harness that probably took him a long while to acquire.And Hiri is a good man too usually he does ballista everytime i'm hostin it n hes free.i always enjoy wavin to him everytime i see him around cuzin my guess he has a good time in the game.But yeah this is the reason why japanese are more successful in game,they don't start beef with one another every now n then and then they don't rip someone else off just because he made a mistake.i don't hate gil sellers ( they have been helpful to me in the past i must add) i don't hate people who hate me but i really wanna spit on people who steal from others or try to make game hell for others.This one time i had about 30 mil worth of stuff borrowed from someone including SH+1 triumph earrings haubergeon and some other weapons... if i wanted to steal i could have but thats not the way to play game... that dude trusted me.Colbwa is a perfect example... he had problem with one person but then the whole server gang raped him for no reason n the poor guy left his levle 73 thief along with the game.
I've been on a 2 week break n might just not play FFXI for a month atleast cuz it makes me sick.After people work hard n such still they are not given the treatment/ stuff they deserve.And then there are those self centered wanna be za topzors.... all they do is craft 24/7 make gillorz n be little to no good to the community as a whole.Shame on you.The poll on top pisses me off even more that more people voted for keeping the harness.

Everyone here is a real person. A person investing their time (life is limited) in to FFXI ? Yes the game does shape them and does effect their real lives. I believe in many cases it's called addiction. It makes people upset or makes them giddy. MMORPG is a different kind of game that comes with a disclamer.

One who has gear that is worth millions is a person who spent many DAYS of their LIFE obtaining what they carry. Losing it in a blink of an eye alone can make one cranky.

Who are you to question your own Morals when you, i, and everyones ingame actions really can stress someone out in RL. You wouldn't care if the person was close to you and even played under the same roof. Because it's just a game, you bad gestures towards a real person dosn't count here. There are limits, do you see where to draw the line ? Say if you have the power to delete someones account ? would you be able to do it with not the slightest concience ? Yes ?

The people are real, the effects it takes on RL relations with family and friends is evident, and the TIME put into the activity cannot be taken back. who plays FFXI it's their problem, as it is yours.

Let us stay on topic please, this kind of entertainment here is for the flameboard.

Crap happens, there are some people that would be nice and give it back and others that wont. You cant get mad either way. The guy who bought the harness found himself a real awsome deal and pounced on hit faster then a little kid going after the biggest present under the christmas tree. So sorry to say i agree with the guy getting the harness.

That's an ok view of it Teppo. But remember the sale was done with a trade. The member search tag said 1.1, the deal was done in trade (i don't know why)

The consumer "wrote" the price he saw and then traded (which said 1.1 for accident)

Hiri closed the trade at a glimpse obviously.

I know the game is not about fair or nice, it's more about free will. In this case i think if the Harness was returned it would have created a respect so high, it would have been more valuable than the gil worth of it all.

it has a semi real cash flow, you can get married, it has an econmy, and it has people who will do what they think they need to to obtain gil. and if you ask me thats real enough right there.

I have been on both sides of a AH mistake, (not anywhere on this scale),

I have overpayed by 1 decmal place 2 mabey 3 times (50k instead of 5k for example) I have never been refunded my gil even after contacting the buyer and I could not fault him/her as it was my mistake, all I coud do is ask.

I have checked my delivery box to find that ppl have overpayed for item several times, 1 time I was contacted by the buyer and I returned all but the asking price for the item, Once I tracked down and returned the extra gil. and any other time I either couldnt find them or didnt think it was a big enough sum to make a fuss over.

No mater the situation I did my best to put myself in the shoes of the poor guy/gal who made the mistake, Thus in turn I feel good about what I did for them and hope that they would behave in the same manner in the future(anyone see the movie PAY It Forward).

But as I stated before it was the mistake of the seller and the buyer is under no obligation to return the item as far as I can Tell. Would be nice if they had though, The big difference is the time I have been faced with the question it was for 10's of thousands not 10 million, could I be so high and mighty with my morals for a scorp harness, I guess I can't say for sure but I hope I would be.

This is interesting... I always thought that everyone used the same number field to enter the price? Is the JP one using 万 (man? - as you said) as units?

Oh and 110 万 (man?) is 1.1 Million. I think you have it up there is 11 Million? I'm starting to lose track of the zeros....

Personally.. I would like to keep it for myself since it was advertised that way... but.. me being me, I guess I would just return the Harness and be really really really sad about the lost deal.
