Scorpion Harness Ruckus (Christmas maddness)

What would you do in this situation ?

Since when do "morals" have to have anything to do with religion? I'm agnostic. That doesn't mean I don't have morals lol. If you can't seperate that then let's use a different description. Let's call it CHARACTER, as I said earlier.
 
Ive got an interesting story. I for one would definetely give it back, because i was sorta in the same boat. One night i was walking through Jeuno i had my thiefs knife in my bazaar for 50,000,000. I fell asleep and woke up the next day went to my deliverybox, Thiefs Knife was sent to me. I then hit ctr E and looked at my money, i had about 7mil... My knife sold for 5mil. And the guy that bought it sent the knife back to me. Without saying a word. He was JP and had a strange name like qooo or something. I have mad respect for that guy, who would have ever thought there are ppl like that on this server? I sent him 8mil first chancei got and /telled him the next time he was on thank you repeatibly. He said please check it 5mil thief knife sell too weak. And that was that. I feel for ya Hiri, sucks that most ppl see this as life, and not as a game. Peace

Well Judgeing from this pic here looks to me as if Hiri was atempting to lower the price on the Harness, and some one bought it at a lower price beating him to the punch. If you ask me, i say he diserved to lose it.

*gasp* i bet sector and jingod are also conspiring to lower SH prices! maybe in this picture he saw jingod buy sector's for 1 and thought to himself... lets not have that happen to me. so he still got his name into the price history probably with a SH he made himself (or for whatever reason anyone sells themselves stuff) without losing all that gil.

this wasn't an AH Fubar, read the initial post. This is an issue of honor and morality... or more to the point, a lack thereof.
 
Personally, I'd return it, if asked politely. Mistakes will happen, and I've got very little interest in profiting from the mistakes of others, at least in regards to something like this.
 
Ok, I havn't read all of these yet but I got what I want to say about the 4 pages that I've read though.

Long time ago when I farmed tarasque and dragon blood, someone bought a dragon blood for 1.8mil or so, that was when 1.8mil went a long way in this game, I knew they made a mistake and I tracked em down, gave them the gil back and had no problem, it was a slip of a hand or something and it didn't bother me to pay it back, I've also paid 500k for a wayvrn claw or something and someone gave me the gil back for that, BUT in this situation I wouldn't give the SH back, if someone has in the search messsage "Kraken Club 10mil" and I run out to bat downs and see in his bazzar for 10mil I'm buyin that bitch, the freakin price was in his search message, now if he said 100mil and I put 10mil and he hit okay, I'd give the item back, but he freakin said 1.1 mil himself. that was an agreement.

Taking the item back is like selling a haub for 4mil and checking AH seeing it's 7mil now and going "OMGZ Wait I want an extra 3mil for that please my mistake sorry".

But Fubs, would you have wanted it back if you had 5mil in your search comment and traded it to them for 5mil?

you can't compare those two, just like you can't compare the AH mess up with what happend there..
 
Something you COULD compare this too, is say you see 10 SHs up on AH and you just throw out 1.1mil to see if you get a snag, low and behold "You purchase a Scorpion Harness for 1,100,000 Gil"

guy sends you a tell "dood I fucked up, I ment 11mil can you please give that back to me?"

The only problem I have with this is there are so many "Are you sure?" "Are you sure?" "Are you sure?" 's in that equation that somewhere in there he could have figured it out and stopped the transaction.

btw fub I woulda sent you the knife back also, but in this case I would have kept the SH.
 
it sounds to me if he shouted to sell for 1.1 million and traded for 1.1 milllion then he is looking for trouble and something to bitch about. i mean sh for 1.1 million thats kinda careless on his part.

esp when he has to look at the actuall numbers in trade and confirm it.
 
i know from experience how bad it feels to make a mistake like this, back when i was buying balmung, half awake i went to check the price of a mythril hart so i knew what to put it up for when i sold it...
i didnt remember to go back to balmung and i was increasing my bid by 100k each time to try n get the lowest sale.
well i ended up bidding 1.4 million gil on a mythril hart...which i already had one.

I Couldnt sleep after that, i wanted to contact the person so bad....but i went to work and left a search message on asking for at least 1 mil back, and sure enough i got lucky. I recieved the 1 mil in my delievery box and i was very happy, and thanked him and let him keep an extra 100k. sold back both mythril harts and got my gear upgrades.

Honestly, because i know how bad that feels...i woulda
not given it back.

and thats why it hurt to lose so much...i couldnt...wouldnt...ever...let go....of a ...PrEcIoUs....Valuable....item such as the...scorpion....harness....Sell...yes....return....nooooo....PrEcIoUs

Honestly in all out truthfulness i would toss em an extra mil and tell em to stop cryin about it, he got more for it than he should have expected after that mistake.
 
Mistakes like that can happen.
Only those whom you know close you might be able to bargain with, but people who hardly know personally or cannot trust...you could kiss that harness goodbye cause who is to say they won't swindle them back?
 
Wow some people are sad. I like how we can view the Poll. Watchout for people who just might capitalize on your mistakes and always be alert around these shady people.

Thats what happens to typing in a rush, lol.

Basically what I was trying to say, in the position of the seller it may be easier to bargain or amend for the mistake with a buyer that you know because of trust and honesty.

But when it comes to the bottomline, if it is someone that you probably don't know: people will most likely take that harness like most items at a Macy's super sale. Simple and short, the seller probably won't get compensated.
Its sad but true.

If you buy a sandwich from a dely, and they make a mistake...the person getting hammered will be the seller. Unless that person remembers you, and actually asks is when the buyer will be confronted with the choice of paying what is owed or not.

Scorpion Harness has been on its highest demand as of lately. O_o;

I think you need to be alert in general if you advertise a scorpion harness for 1.1mil and then go ahead and sell it for 1.1mil. :coco:
