Not going to post any particular arguments as my opinion hasn't changed on this general issue, but it's amusing this issue worked its way onto this board before and people's opinion on a nearly identical issue tends to sway based on personal biased towards a particular player or race of players.

This was already discussed. Not that particular case, but theres a difference between that and what happened here. That was a mistake on the AH due to lag. In this one the person advertised the item himself for a low price, there was no mistake made by the buyer. He simply paid the price the seller asked for. Kind of like when someone undercuts on the AH by a big amount and someone buys the item for a very cheap amount *cough*Krystopher*cough*

Exactly, why do people compare the two, this guy advertised 1.1mil and sold for 1.1mil holy cow, its' not like he was advertising it for 11mil and didn't notice it was only 1.1, and AH wasn't anywhere in this story.

STOP COMPARING AH MESSUPS and this one!!

Kryst--------ouch...... /comfort

Come on now, please, common sense for a moment here. If sold it for 8 million you have a case, 11 mill vs 1.1 mill is obviously an accident. You say he made the mistake twice, I say Lanien confirmed the wrong amount as well, AH has so many safe checks now. Just by using the lack of common sense argument that he intended to really sell for that cheap and changed his mind, I can say Lanien realy intended to buy for sell and the same happened.

The point is, mistakes are made, are refunds obligatory?

You should at least have consistancy instead of trying to dissect the hell out of it with arbitrary made up rules.

My opinion is refunds are a nice thing to do, I have done it, would do it again. But I did it out of kindness NOT obligation. If things like that are manditory, what is kindness? Is kindness just doing what you must to avoid ending up on the flameboard?

Stealing is something completely different. Taking something that was agreed to be only a loan, like in Dua's case, is obviously wrong, for whatever reason. People shouldn't fucking steal. It's funny how people pick and choose what's tolerable and what's not. As the expression goes, law without order is worse than order without law.

I think you need to be alert in general if you advertise a scorpion harness for 1.1mil and then go ahead and sell it for 1.1mil. :coco:

You need to be alert.....around your own LS members?

Man, Trancos hit my blist faster than a fly on shit. Greedy little punk values gil more than his fellow players AND in this case his fellow linkshell members.

Fuck Trancos

Trancos has always been pretty cool with me.

He loaned me gear when exping whm back in the day. He loaned it to me when I was a complete stranger.

I thought he was alright too. Helped him get his Minstrals Coat.

I get along well with Hiri, or atleast he always comments on my gear & says impossible to gauge DRK after nearly every WS.

So I asked Trancos if he would return the Harness..When he said 'no', I gave him an ultimatum. He chose the harness over my friendship (which is much more profitable given my NM record -- if you want to look at this in terms of gil), he was quickly blisted.

In all honesty, Hiri seem to be either
1) stupid
2) shady

As he put it up for 100k at the AH and sold it to himself, put it in his /seacom for 1,1 mil, and traded it for 1,1 mil

Although, I would still give it back =/

so I assume since the majority of you feel that its a legit trade....that you would not care if it was your harness being sold for 1.1 mil?

If I were selling my SH, I would take better care to not advertise it as being only 1.1 million, and not precede to trade it for 1.1 million.

Why is that so hard to understand?

This entire sittuation is shady. There was a conversation in my ls going on earlier about the inflation of prices. I'm certain this is a common conversation in most shells as of late because of the almost drastic hikes. Time passes, and I'm in a party having a conversation with someone else, and also in a few tells and all of a sudden I see someone in the shell say something like "I saw a hauby for 1mil.." which thus caused me to send a tell, and ask "You saw a hauby for a mil?".. because there is someone I know who would like one, although with the constant raise of prices it's a bit impossible to just buy it for him. And he sends a tell back, and is like "Yah, a year ago.." or something to that effect, and I lol. In the sittuation of the advertised price being 1.1mil I would've urgently tried to buy it and get a good deal. Simply too many people I know right now that would kill for a deal like that. It would be a "happy" find, as I think I saw another explain. Of course it is a bit of a large discount, but would be seen as a discount just the same.

Now, what doesn't settle well with me is you say the seller's friend called buyer out as a theif, and yet, he did nothing other than pay the amount that was asked. Let's forget that either of them were in a shell together, their names, or their nations in this matter. If the buyer left out a 0, and the seller did not catch it in time-- Yes, I'd prolly find him to be a bit of a thief. Now if I was publicly called out as a THF... meh, I'd more than likely keep it. Now, say if you came to me and explained your friend made an error politely, I am most assured in the given sittuation that I would've given it back or the rightful amount. It just depends on the variables.

I used to be very trustful at lower levels. Was at a skill up party and I needed more accuracy, and a person of my ls at the time allowed me to use his ring as he had plenty of accuracy but he needed more mp as I do believe he was a dark and thus I went to trade him my mana ring. Bare in mind I was a whm and we had a pld tank so I was trying to do this while keeping up with everything going on around me-- and I traded to the wrong galka. Didn't look at names or anything in a bit of a rush and hit ok-- the wrong galka's inventory was full and thus could not accept the trade. He said to me "It's a good thing that my inventory was full and that you need to be more careful."

I was completely embarressed by the sittuation -- because it was in fact MY mistake, and granted something as minor as a mana ring is not seen as a big deal now, but I would've felt really upset then. More at myself than anyone else because he would've been completely in the right of my ring. Now to say whether or not his inventory not have been full and had he have kept a noob's ring would his integrity have been placed in question? Perhaps. I'd like to think that he would have returned it, as I'm most assured I'd have. It still would not change the fact that it was my mistake though.

Pretty much.
The first count of the mistake happening can be looked at as a slip up and an accident, but following it up with an actual sale for that amount, that is just being a dumb ass.

What I think, and what everyone else here thinks should happen doesn't really matter. The opinion of the buyer is really the only one that matters here. You can't expect anything back being that the advertisement and sale were both a legit 1.1 mil. If the buyer decides to be nice and give the money back, you can consider yourself a LUCKY dumb ass. It is not your right to have that additional money...Because you screwed the pooch.

I'd be willing to bet that this will never happen again, and if it does that we have a legit retard playing FFXI.

btw - I'll take a speed belt for 5 mil.

I love it. Bring up something completely unrelated that doesn't affect me because you couldn't think of a come back. gg.
