I'm running a screenshot contest :D . Here's how it's going to work:

Each week, there is a theme. The theme can be anything, from pictures in the rain, to pictures of Windurst, to pictures of elementals, to the silliest picture.

The contest will run from Thursday of each week to the Monday of the following week. The judges will have Tuesday and Wednesday to score each entry. I will post the theme and the winners on Thursday nights, 10 PM EST. Entries must be in my mailbox (email or PM box) by the following Monday night at 10 PM EST, where I will set up a photobucket site and post each picture with a number. Each number will correspond to the person that submitted the picture, but only I know who has which number (i'm going to write it down, numbers will be assigned by the order of sign up). The judges (and only the judges) will have access to this site. The judges then score each picture on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the highest, to one decimal place (e.g. 8.9, 1.7, 5.0, etc.). The judges PM their scores to me by Thursday at 5 PM EST. I will then average the scores. I will post the three highest scorers' screenshots and average scores on a thread, with names, of course. However, that's not all.

There will be an entry fee of 100 gil per week. The prizes will be:
1st-60% of the money collected
2nd-25% of the money collected
3rd-15% of the money collected.

I need the entry fee in my delivery box by the Monday, 10 PM EST, the same time the screenshot is due in my mailbox. If there's no fee, your entry will not be considered.

Also I will send a cookie to anyone that deserves an honorable mention in my oh-so-humble opinion.

So every Thursday, I'll make a new thread with the theme. You need to sign up each week on the new thread.

Each participant is only allowed to submit one screenshot. If you have a mule, that doesn't count =P.

All judging spots have been filled.

One more thing, the use of third party programs to alter screenshots is strictly prohibited. No photoshop, paint etc. Fraps is ok.

That should be all, post with any feedback you have.

One question, can a judge be an entrant? That's the only thing I don't think you covered.

Thanks Kat for catching that, and no, a judge cannot be an entrant, that wouldn't be too fair.

I've also edited the above message to state that the judges PM me their scores, not email.
 
^_^ I think its a great idea! heh. I can't wait to see this start! ; 3 Maybe seeing some of the contestant's entries may inspire me to make more mahself. ^_^ Or atleast be able to see come cool screenies! BOOO PLAYONLINE CONTEST!! T.T I can't send my SSs in cuz i dun use the official screenshot thingy in the game.
 
I dont know if you'll let me be a judge..but I would like to be one ^^
 
Ill judge. As a rule, judges should not be able to post pics, or should not be allowed to vote for their own. :P

Judges are not allowed to enter the competition; I covered this above.

My only comment to the judges is that you PLEASE follow the rules, PLEASE have everything in on time. I don't want to have to ask any of you to step down, let's make this fun :D .

I'll be posting a topic on Thursday. I'll also make a post advertising that entries are being accepted.

I'm now announcing the way that I would like the judges to score (don't worry, it's flexible):

Please judge on the content of the shot and the overall impression you get from it. I ask that if you judge a picture irrelevant to the theme that you subtract five (5) points from your score and indicate that you did so for that reason when you submit your scores to me. As I stated above, give a score in between 1.0 and 10.0; scores to one decimal place please.

I am curious as to what the rules are for the pictures. Can they be photo shopped? Should names have to be removed? Other special rules or will each rule be specific to weekly contest? Or any photo taken from game is acceptable? Also you mentioned theme?
 
OOOOOO i like where this is going, when is the first contest? and the theme? Plz let us know as soon as u have the info (^.^)~~
 
For the photoshop question, I stated above:

As far as names go, I would prefer that all screenshots be taken in first-person mode, but if you are unable to capture your shot in this manner, I will take your picture and put a black bar over your name, which will of course be removed in the event that your picture is posted here.

Each picture must fit the theme. If there are any special rules, I will post them when the theme is announced.

The contest starts tomorrow, the theme will be posted tomorrow, and it will be on thursday every week, as I stated in the rules above.

Rae, if you want to play along and take a screenshot for fun that's cool ^^, but it won't be posted on the photobucket site or eligible for judging.
