So I'm in the dunes (i.e. Vandeil pergatory) and one of the members of my 11-13 party leaves so I need to replace. I start looking for a replacement when I see a lvl 13 bard seeking. I ask the bard if he would like to join my exp and here comes the snobbery.....

He asks if "I have a full group" (which everyone knows is a red flag) so I talk to my teammates to see if they really wanted a brd before I ask this assface to join and 30-45 seconds later I reply "yes" and he says "sorry I already joined a party who already had the answers to my questions"...

I see him having a leveled whm (he was subbing whm) has allowed his ass to become soft and silky from the ass kissing he probably got from desperate parties in this and other areas...

Well excuse me Rank 5, Lvl 13 Bard if I didn't respond to you questions in a timely manner. You have sooooo many songs at your level and such a huge mp pool subbing whm. How dare I ask not kiss your ass and tell you how much of an asset you are.... What a fucking insecure loser.

Im a Rank 10, Lvl 75 char and I have NEVER snubbed my nose at anyone and its pathetic when some little worm comes along and thinks his shit don't stick in the fucking dunes cause there are desperate noobs and newbies everywhere who need a healer or a brd.

And shame on most of the people in this game for sucking up to them! Jerkoffs like these don't get to where they are but people putting them in there place.

Man, what was their name? I was in the Dunes earlier today and was pting near the Konschtat zone line on lizards. Pt was 10-12, and we had just picked up a MNK to fill in where our other MNK was. I got like, 3 tells from someone saying {Bard} {Do you need it?}. I dont recall their name, but if I saw it i'd recognize it...Maybe we were beset by the same person.

That's what I call arrogant. I have a feeling that the guy/gal Veovis mentioned is probably the same as the one in Tomasello's post.

I hate to go on my own little rant, but when I go to level an "MVP job", (such as Bard, White Mage, etc.), I agree to the /tell someone sends me, then I join. If it is a bad party, I simply leave. I don't think it is necessary to filter all PTs with ridiculous questions or tests before I join, just because I have a high demand job.

EXP now, quiz later.

*sigh* people shouldn't be too picky in the dunes. EVERYONE there sucks at their job. that's the whole point of the area, (or at least what we've made the whole point of hte area to be) to learn how to play in a pt setting. People just have to come to realize that except for a few exceptional experiences Valk is gonna be hell for just about everyone involved XD. Too bad there's some elitest--or i should say WANABE elitest--snobs like this BRD that think they're the shit at such a low lvl. Dude NO ONE is the shit at that lvl so =P. No one is going to know exactly what they are doing or how to do it at that lvl unless they've lvled that same job on another character XD. valk is just one of those places that reeks of noobification. Even players that are rank 10 lvl 75 on other jobs are noobs there. Sure with mage jobs you can afford to be picky and choosey sometimes on what pt you want cause you get invites from multiple pts a lot of the time, but it's pretty ridiculous at lvl 13.

lol in the dunes, the only thing I want is no blind invites. If the party gets me 500xp, I consider that a success lol I'm leveling whm in the dunes myself, so I get pt invites even when in pts, so I have my choices, but I don't ask for the pt setup before joining cause that would make me a douche.

XD I'm taking SAM and PLD through there, on and off, for kicks. I don't particularly care about lvling those jobs so it's fun to just bask in stupidity, including my own, for stories to tell when I think i'm hot stuff, when actually I'm not and people wish I would shut up. It's amazing how much fun it is to lvl a job you have no interest in just to see what sort of nightmare experiences you can find.

level in the dunes with me, Lanien XD I'll make dem parties uber!!!

lol Sweet. I should be back Wednesday :D

All I ask is a little common courtesy things like....

1) Don't ask discriminatory questions like do you have a full party or what jobs do you have. Try it out and if its not working out leave. No one will fault you if you decide to leave because the exp stinks cause they'll be all thinking the same thing.

2) If you have to leave please give at least a 10-15 min warning. Don't be a jerk and say, "well it dinner time go to go bye". or "As soon as I level on next mob im leaving" Thats rude.

3) Set your hp close.... Especially in the dunes. No one wants to wait will you walk back from windy or try to find you a raise. If I'm leader I boot there ass cause the only reason they don't hp is because there too lazy to walk back.... Tough shit you should expect to die multiple times in the dunes.

I agree with the other two, but I fail to see what's so bad to about asking about the party makeup. Yes, I think it's rude to be talking with one party leader and just join another party if they answer your questions quicker. I also think it's dumb to only join parties who are already fully formed, cause geez, if everyone does that there'll be no parties being formed ...but part of the point in talking before joining a party is to find out about it. Am I replacing someone? Am I going to be expected to take on a role that I might not be used to for my job? In the dunes, MNK/WAR might make a viable tank, but not all MNKs might want to tank--wouldn't you rather find out before the person joins the party and you're fighting, and player doesn't voke? Same for non-WHM mage types being asked to main heal, and so on. If all of a sudden asking about the party (and by that same token, asking about the player on the receiving end of the invite) is considered rude, we might as well all just go to blind invites.

This is why I went through Dunes as a WAR/BRD once. I was so frickin' cool!!! :P

my friend was the leader of a party, and he invited a whm and when he joined the party and said "I dont want to be the main healer" and then he left....

When he told me that i was like WHOA!

Personally, anytime someone asks me to join their party, if i am not helping friends, i say <Yes, please>

Then again, i am a drk and take what i can get! LOL

A WHM who doesn't want to main heal.

Maybe I am an asshole but I do want to know the party setup and lvl range and camp before I agree to join.

I don't understand these people who get all antsy and want a party RIGHT NOW just cause they have an in-demand job. XPing low level and high level is the same- if you want to be really effective, sometimes it takes time to get the right party together.

Example, I levelled my WHM sub the other day from 29-31 in Yhoator. It's always been my policy to join on a "first come first served" basis with in-demand jobs. So when I got a party request while still in Jeuno, I accepted, put my flag down and shipped to Kazham. When I got there, I found out we were still waiting on someone who missed the airship. Oh well, I used that time to get some juice materials, just in case.

It probably wasn't til 20 minutes after I got to Kazham that we finally got out to the camp and set up to xp- but once we started we were pulling in 5-6K an hour, easily the fastest XP I've ever gotten in the jungles. The reason for it was that we were willing to wait for the right combination of jobs to come together. If we'd just gotten going as fast as possible, with whatever happened to be seeking closest to us, we probably would've had gimped the XP substantially.

Well im usually often invited when someone is starting a party out. I did this once and wen to Eastern Altep desert and we fought Beetles...We did really well, and i dont mind waiting....i just like to know that i have a spot in a party! ^^

i prefer the desert than crawlers nest....

I'll be picky too, because well...

When I'm playing ninja, before I even start, the first thing I do is eat up an expensive 3 hour food. How about a crappy level range when the other party members don't care because they just want any exp they can get, while I could get a better party, or just save my gil and not spend a ton of cash on ninja tools for 4k in 2 hours and just farm instead. I might have a different opinion of what is an acceptable party than some other member who doesn't use food and tools so parties for free. For them anything is better than sitting in their mog house seeking.

I agree with you Tom, save asking about a party setup beforehand. I never used to do it before, being a DRG you don't pass up any party invites >.>. But a few days ago in the dunes, I got into two parties, count'em, TWO, that had players with Advanced jobs and high ranks. What was wrong with that you say? They all wanted me to tank at lvl 11 NIN/WAR. They didn't have a tank AT ALL, not even something that could remotely resemble a tank; I was supposed to be it. Now, at least while on NIN, I ask about the party setup beforehand to make sure there is a viable tank if I cannot blinktank (though, that isn't a problem anymore because after I got into Elemmire's UBER party, I lvl'd from 11-16 in a matter of 3 or 4 hours)

I've seen many posts on this thread that say (basically) "I would like to know the level range and PT set-up before I join."

I don't want to be rude or intrusive, but what I would do (First, it must not be a blind invite...I don't accept those) is join the PT, then select Party Members under the Party tab. If it seems ridiculous, I just say "This PT _____ (Insert fault(s) here)" and leave.

Usually I like to know what is in the pt. I almost always do /sea all name of person who is inviting me to see if they arent like lvl 50 rank 1 or have a really underleveled sub or any clues that me going to pt is just a waste of farming time etc. I don't thinks its arrogant I think it is just making sure that I am using my time effectivively and espescially when i play nin because that is also using money effectively. I only ask setup if the ldr seems sketchy.
