Not much action down here in reality, figure I'll throw a question out here.

Ever screw up at work which could cost your boss/company money or a client?

I'm a farrier in training (horseshoer) and I trimmed a hoof to close and the horse bled a bit :(. Nothing permanent but clients are known to drop shoers for this every now and then. Making it worse is this wasnt a cheap horse, this is the coolest $90,000 show horse youve seen. I felt like I was gonna throw up, not at the blood (which was very pink, and very flowing) but at what I was gonna say to the owner, who is a good person.

Let's hear your stories.

Work is alot of stress, no one can escape the economy. -_- It's a cycle that repeats itself sadly. I'll tell acouple later.

I accidentally lost all of the "classifieds" data for a whole week's issue at the newspaper I work for... Yeah, I about pissed my pants.

I was doing overnight stocking in a grocery store and accidentaly hooked the bottom of the shelf with the walking stacker ripping all 16 of the metal anchors out of the concrete. Good times. That shelf was unusable for like a month.

I don't have a screw up story lol but wow you shoe horses!? I own horses, I have 4 :o The only time I got rid of a farrier was when he/she did really inconsistant work and was unwilling to try alternatives. For example, I had a thoroughbred, ex-race horse, ex-hunter/jumper who had terrible feet. His hoof walls were paper thin and would go lame if you poked him. He always had bruises and every farrier that tried to shoe him would hot nail him ; ; poor guy was always gimping. Then I finally found a farrier willing to try glue on shoes. After my horse started with those he was sound as could be and much happier on his feet.

Anyway, hot nailing them, once in a while, is not that big of a deal, usually as long as it is taken care of and you use hoof pac immediately they won't have any problems from it. :p

I drove a wrecker through a concrete barrier then got some razor wire wrapped around the rear axle once. I stand by the fact that noone could of made that turn though. Actually it was more funny than a screw up, and the armor wasn't even scratched but the barrier is still all messed up.

Well, it's kinda hard for me to screw up my job since I work for an Internet company, but one time I accidentally posted a review for the PSP that I really shouldn't have posted (well, I do actually agree with it but that's beside the point). Of course the review got archived before I could take it down (which was like 6 minutes after I posted it, haha)...

I don't screw up, but my boss likes to try to blame me for things.
She admitted having a personal problem with me. I got that out of her after confronting her on it. She was completely badgering me on my "work performance" when I reported to her that a friend of mine was shot and I had to go to the funeral.

This bitch is such a whore. 2 kids from 2 different guys, marrying a 3rd guy (she's 33), just had a miscarriage...When that happened she got emotional and started taking it out on me. I may actually have to kill her to cleanse the world of her short-sighted, bitchy, hypocricies.

I'd really like to use the sidewalk as a cheese grater for her face.

...I think I'm going off topic. Anyway, work sucks. It wouldn't be so bad if my boss wasn't a C U Next Tuesday though.

I screw up often^^

I'm a CnC programmer and If i'm in a hurry to finish something up I'll usualy type a decimal point in the wrong place or hit 5 instead of 4 and so on, Thus result in me loading the work and program and going back to my desk. Then 10min-1+hrs later hearing the chuck/spindle slam into the work piece/table.

Startels the shit out of ya

When I screw up at my current job, glass is everywhere, and I don't get in trouble for it ^^

Overfilling a window with gas: *boom! followed by several cheers*

Picking up a really delicate tempered window, and my thumb goes straight through it. Took no dmg from it, but it surprised me last night ^^;

The best part about breaking a window there is when you get to toss it in the glass dumpster and you break it even more with the ones you threw it at XD

Some day I'm gonna pick up a metal post from one of the glass carts and try out my own penta thrust on some scrap, just to see how much stress that relieves ^^

That sounds like an awesome job Gattsu :D

As for my job, if I screw up people die. Ahem... the life of a Beastmaster is so difficult sometimes.

Seriously though, I've been looking for work for like 2 months now, there's shit for jobs around here.

I called the boss at my last job a "shit-whore." Is that a screw up?

P.S. I work for her biggest rival now. Take that you bitch.

My biggets screw up was on purpose. <_<;

I work at Burger King, until college next fall. D:

This ass came threw drive through and was being a real rude individual. He ranted and raved and was cussing about how he wanted HEAVY onions and Mustard.

Needless to say. :x that Burger probably made him cry when he opened the wrapper ._.;

Better than spitting on food I say.

I wasn't hot nailing (not even sure what that is) just took a sharp loop knife and sliced a frog too close, i tell you my heart hit my feet. Its a really cool dressage horse. Sorry to hear your horses problems, thin hoof walls is a tough one. My teacher is a pro at nailing and he tells me I got the magic aim :). I've never seen a glued on shoe though, how long do they last?

I have been with my current job for the past 6 years. During these years I have screwed up a few times, and without to bore you with details, some of the screw-ups were costly in terms of payroll hours needed to fix the issues I created.

I still have my job, I still got pay raises, I still have my own office with a window and mountain view (though they are not all that scenic, but it beats those offices that are cubicles in the basement).

People screw up, it's natural to make a mistake every now and then. It's when you realize you made a mistake, you take responsibility, and you offer a solution on how to fix the issue, that's when you earn the respect of those you work with, and those you work for.

Of course sometimes admitting to a mistake can get you fired, but that's just a risk you have to take if you want to keep your integrity.

hot nailing is when you nail into the laminae or into the part of the hoof where nails don't belong :p I never had a farrier cut too close with the knife, but they sure cut themselves plenty lol
