Yeah, but that ignores one thing: The only time mass quantities of these are made is during skilling up. Yes the stackable to 99 helps when you're skilling, but the lumberjacking of fletchings and arrowheads doesn't help a damn thing. They are yet another in a long line of worthless GP items.
Ok, maybe I'm not getting this . . . but I'm a woodworker who actually uses lumberjack. A lot. If I need 1 log, I use three and lumberjack in case it HQ3's, because I'll use that later.
How can this possibly hurt? Bare minimum: you save two crystals (if it's like lumberjack, you have to buy some item from an npc to add to the synth, but bundling twice is under 100 gil per unit -- way less than a single wind crystal, let alone two). Furthermore, if it NQ's, yes, that's like 3 NQ's, but if it HQ3's, don't you get a ton of your item? I HQ3 arrowwood lumber for a full stack off of three logs. Sells for 3-4k; I spend 16 gil per log (when I'm not farming) + 75 gil for bundling twine from guild + 1 wind crystal.
If you're making your stuff in the field, you have to carry fewer crystals and you can stack materials higher.
Meanwhile, ninja tools have been toolbagged recently, so rangers casting utsusemi have that to their advantage.
As for the complaint that it's harder to find these things on AH . . . there are typically savings in buying in bulk. Look at any 12-stack item and then look at its singles.
Maybe there is less availability, but the NA population on Quetz has started crafting; everyone knows someone who can make what they need.
The other day I needed some fletchings to make arrows for a friend . . . none in AH, so I logged to a windy mule and walked into the weaver's guild with the mats. First guy I asked made them for free no problem. If it's annoying to you that you can't find synthesis materials, level some subcrafts; you can do horn and scorpion at bonecraft 50 and make profit getting there.
Protip: level alchemy for bullets; Corsairs are going to use guns.
Anyway, I'm glad the other crafts are getting some lumberjack-y GP's; I believe it's all directed to deflating crystal prices, which have been too high for too long.
