So it is unlikely to be another FFXI, I get that. Do you think they'll do what they should have done all along and remove Final Fantasy from the MMO title?

It will be ported to PS3, Xbox360, and Windows Vista(yay). After looking at current games on the market, I realize again why I like MMO's. (Must fight the urge to try a different one) XD

I'm really interested in this new MMO. I've sworn off SE, but if they run this new one differently, I might be willing to give it another shot.

So, for the poll:

I'm down if my LS transfers. For me its all about the people I play with moreso than game mechanics.

There is a lot of overhead to depend on a whole ls transferring. IE... needing Vista, 360, or PS3 will automatically filter a lot of XI players from going higher.

Also, what the hell is Vista?

It's the next generation of the windows OS.

win 3.1 >> Win 98 >> Win2000 >> Win XP >> Win Vista

I've run the betas and I really like what I see. The concept of "folders" is changing. "Folders" as you know them really dont exist anymore. Everything is built off of a general Index and the OS seems to run smoothly.

Wish I coulda gotten ahold of a beta copy.

Alanon left out the glory that was windows 95 :P

95 does not need mentioning.

The more I look at other MMO's, the more I realize the character faces all suck... same with Oblivion and other similar games. The faces in XI atleast look different and proportional to the race... Not all the faces look like they belong to a drunkard fat man.

I read a long time ago that the next MMO from SE was going to be an action/rpg with a fighting engine similar to KH or Zelda. Could have been a rumor though.

Right now, thats all there are... SE is keeping their mouth's tightly shut. I just hope it is cooler than FFXI with more attention paid to things like making "flaming swords" ... flame. lol I don't ask for much - honestly.

That and changing the 'casting' animation for the different spells.

All I know is that unless they somehow have been covering up that they are going to be making it possible to port over our origional characters, I HIGHLY doubt that I'll be messing around with the new MMO.

The fact that they made this game a total timesink beyond all reasoning coupled with their customer service being less then satisfactory and they dont even know how to listen to their fanbase or acknowledge the fact that said fanbase has a better understanding of their game then they do(read: SE doesnt know why people still camp Kings yet wont touch others like the new HNMs for their lives) doesnt make me want to trust another MMO type game from them. Hell the only reason I keep playing this game is because of the people I've met and that I like playing with them NOT the grind to 75 so I can either do quests that dont require me to have grinded to 75 or get in with an endgame shell that is filled with more drama then Broadway.

Hell, we ALL know that the next MMO is probably going to be the same shitty setup that we've come to expect from this one. Pick job. Grind to X level with said job. Fight big bosses to get X piece of gear/finish x quest. The only problem I have had, both before I played this game and during this game, is the fact that I keep asking myself "Ok, then what?" Sure, I know theres the response of "we fight X mobs again and again till we ALL get the gear we want" but I ask again, "Ok, then what?" When All the gear we can get is gotten, what do we do next? Hell, we cant even properly have PvP unless its under a game that has no real relivence. Sure, Balista/Brenner may be fun, but how cool would it be to just have a "challenge" tab so you can have a one on one fight with someone whenever you want and without all the hastle.

Not to mention the game has given us a bunch of mobs with NO backstory, NO reason to fight them other then for gear(Kirin, Gods, Kings, Cerebus, Wyrms), yet they give the easiest bosses in comparison all the story in the world(Shadow Lord, the 2 Zilart princes, Promethia) and yeah, I know one is a mission Boss and the other is not but I mean common give me something to work with here. Am I the only one who thinks this is retarted? I mean talk about bad planning on the part of the Devs. And dont even get me started on how they implement quests/missions with their vague as hell NPCs to direct us in the way things get accomplished.

Weren't they working on a MMO project called Fantasy Earth: The Ring of Dominion?

I thought that(Fantasy Earth) was already out in Japan, and we'll never see it over here, also PC only, so not this new MMO they're working on.

That was refreshing Rorschach.

I know exactly what you mean, I've not played XI for a whole month now - so my anger at the stupid shit of XI has quelled but that reminded me of a lot of things that pissed me off.

Your comments on the really hard(Atleast hard at one point in time) bosses hit home. You get the c/s's for missions and quests... but no back story behind how Gods came to inhabit sky.

Your point on SE's level abstraction from it's user's is/was perhaps the most frustrating point to this game... You literally can not talk to anyone that can submit ideas or make changes to the game. Sure, there is 1 place, buried in the hells of POL - but it seems to me, none of the comments or ideas submitted were heeded.

The players of XI know more about gameplay than the company - another frustratingly true point. One reason I swore off anything SE + MMO. I might get the new MMO (might) and if they don't fix, what are fundamental issues to me, I won't stay in it very long.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Sidenote: I wonder if they will release the new MMO in Japan a year in advance of NA - cause if they do... that would *uckin' suck.

For those who were curious about Windows Vista beta, the Customer Release program opened again and you can download your very own copy RIGHT NOW at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/default.mspx... Will only be open for a few days so get it while its hawt!

And i hope the new MMO kicks ass, SE does make great games pretty consistantly.

Will it be a great game? yeah... but lets face it after dealing with SE in ffxi noones gonna want to go into the game. I hope that the game bombs from everyones memory of se customer service. Maybe then SE might get it through thier skulls to actually listen to thier customers about important issues/problems.

Good piont on the gods having no backstory. Noone honestly has no real game incentive to actually attack a god besides gear. I mean honestly the gods in sky aint been hurting anyone for thousands of years. So of course we as adventurer go up and beat the shit out of some guy that was just chillin up on his lawn for no reason but to mug his ass.

Kirin: where did i put My stamp collection to?
Kirin: ah kind mortals you have found my prized stamp collection. If you give them to me ill give you this abjuration that will grant you an item of great power and and one of my ultra cool official kirin jackets.
Adventurers: Hey lets kill that guy and take his stuff!
Kirin: WTF? Ow ! Stop that! You little @%#$rats! Bitches! hoes get down here! *god summoning*
5 mins-1 hour later
kirin drops an wind crystal.
The last dying breath of Kirin: PWNed you bitches!

I wont ever play another MMO from Square-Enix. The only reason I got into this one was because I was leaching my cousins acount.

Theres a reason why WoW does so well and blizzard has a rabid fanbase. They made a game with much more quality and the company knows how to cater to players wants. They seem to want you to enjoy it where as SE just wants your monthly rate for the least amount of effort on there part.

Yeah, tell me about it...

<S-E Director> So, we are finding out that our oldest players are starting to get bored doing the same NMs over and over, lets give them something new to play with.

<S-E Dev.> Ok, we've been thinking of a way to make the game fresh and new for those who have put in long amounts of time in the game. We were thinking of possibly making it so that players could face off against other players. You know, like every other MMO that has come before us/exists now as competition/will ever be made.

<S-E Dir.> lolDev, thats what the fanbase would EXPECT! And lord knows we cant do that. That would mean we actually acknowlede their existance other then just their CC#. No, instead we'll give them a new HNM. We'll make it big, nasty and heres the clincher... It will drop nothing!

<S-E Dev.> Nothing sir? Isnt that kind of, I dont know, an insult to the players intelligence?

<S-E Dir.> What intelligence?!? Follow me on this one. We make it drop nothing but say Fire Crystals, so that they will come back more and more to see if it finally will drop something. And after a couple of times it pops, we'll have it spawn an "HQ version" of the same mob, only it will drop a new item that will have no real impact on the game other then "it looks shiney".

10 gil says this conversation has happened more then once.

lol, bit pessimistic there... always good to be pessimistic - you're never disappointed.

This is not always a good thing you know, and generally why a lot of people find WoW too easy.
