I had an idea for Christmas that I was going to do within my LS, in which I go around to everyone and get them to do one /random, have their name down on a list and write down whatever number they roll, and also /befriend if haven't already.

That after I get everyone or after a certain amount of days, I go through the list and either match two pairs with numbers close together, or by taking the highest and lowest and matching, second highest lowest and most, etc.

Then those two people have to send each other a gift which should be worth a minimum of 1k at least but doesn't have to be over 5k. It'd say it's better to get an item sent to them instead of just gil, so it can be any drop you must've got or even a stack of crystals.

After I match up the pairs, I'll send a message to those who aren't on who they have to get a gift for.

I think it's a little fun Christmas idea and a way to get to know another a little more and be generous to those you might not even ever talk to.

Anyone else may join in too. You don't have to be part of the LS, just send me a /t and I can put your name down on the list and /befriend and then pair you off with someone else.

I'm going to be starting it after maintenance so you can send a /t to Chronofantasy if interested.

There has been some discussion among mods to do this for/through QCDN.
Swishee is looking into whether he can get some code from a friend of his to add a 'match' system to QCDN to find pairs. Not sure whether that will actually happen.

I am glad to see you got it started, and I hope a many people will participate just for the fun of it. It may not seem like much, and perhaps the stuff someone get's isn't going to be all that useful, but it's a nice gesture and who knows, there could be true treasure coming your way. ;)

Yeah, I already got some people's /random before, but I still got about 50 at least from my LS to get a /random from. I think it should be fun either way and thanks :)

This sounds cool I'd love to be a secret santa ^^. but instead of just sending I'd hunt them down and trade them and say Merry Christmas ^^ then leave lol

If my stupid stuff on AH sells then i'll be up for it. I'll send you a /tell when I actually have over 5k lol.

Well I said a minimum of at least 1k is alright too, and I'm sure most people have an item that is worth at least over 1k, even earth crystal stacks sell for 1k.

Yes, looking for them would be a lot nicer, and trading directly right to them.

Any kind of trade, direct or by mail, sort of defeates the secret santa idea though. The whole point is that you do not know who gave the thingie to you, hence the need for a middleman.

Or it could be Secret Santa Extended Standard 2.1 beta in which you do track the person down. Getting rid of the middleman will surely make things easier.

Wouldn't it be funny to be in a pt or something and someone comes and trades you and its something worth alot then they warp out. If you send something through the delivery box some people(just a few) might send it back thinking you typed the wrong name.
