Hey all.....ok..i have a prob. Im the moderator for my counterstrike clan's message board but there has been the constant trouble of ex-members and immature groups of pre-teens who plague the forum with bump posts, spam, posing as other members (myself included), etc etc. I think u get the idea of what im going through. I always check when i get off work and clean up the mess and once more before i goto bed, but i need to know how i can stop this.

I know that some PHP boards dont allow unregistered users to post, which would be a huge help in preventing endless guest posts. They always just input the name of a clan member, i.e. Me, and post as a guest. I need to know how to stop that. And also...is there anyway to ban certain ppl. I know IP address isnt an option unless its static, but then even that can be changed, so im unsure if this is even possible.

Anyway, if anyone can help me, i would be most appreciative and thank you in advance. If any more info is needed regarding what kind of forum it is (if thats a valid question), then plz ask and i will do everything i can to find the answer. Please advise me as to how to remedy this problem with security, even if the advice would be to use a different forum entirely, any and all advice is needed and appreciated.

Thank you,

Basically you can set up phpBB so that only registered users can post.
Other than that, there is user name banning, banning specific email addresses, or entire domains from registering, and as a last resort you can ban IPs, or IP ranges.

Personally I would just go ahead and deactivate the users in question and see if that helps, if not then most often the only option is IP ranges, which may or may not affect legitimate users of the board as well.

We're running phpv2.0.6.... www.ktaclan.com.

Ty sculli, ill talk to the admin about doing that, wasnt aware that they had capabilities as simple as that.
