Thanks for all the great times, guys. I really enjoyed playing with all of you (even though some of us did argue occasionally
). I'm leaving for a few reasons:
1. I'm tired of spending money on FFXI.
2. I'm tired of doing the same thing over and over again.
3. The game is/was eating way too much into my real life.
4. The lack of doing anything other than playing FFXI is really starting to become depressing for me.
I've been in many-a-linkshell, and it's kind of strange to look back and see how people were once close friends that are now just acquaintances, or even "rivals." There seem to be mainly two big crowds now: OutterHeaven and Ascension.
Looking back at how OutterHeaven was created is interesting, too. From what I can recall, DestroyersCircle split up into ForgottenHeroes and whatever Carloth's LS was (purple color, don't remember)... and eventually many of those people from both LS went to either Ascension or JeunoTreePeople... and JTP ultimately lead to Slacker's version of DrgnAsh (FH was still around for a while after that, too).. which lead to Svina's revival, and then (essentially) OH. It's like there was DrgnAsh, which was the biggest "rival" of Ascension, which then turned into Svina's ls, which then became OutterHeaven, so many of those in OH are now branded with whatever Ascension disliked about Svina and those associated with him, and also are being put into the old rivalry from DrgnAsh that nobody really acknowledges or realizes it, but I think that's where all of the sparks are really coming from..
There are a lot of people in the game you befriend and eventually forget, but sometimes you will remember them when thinking back around certain levels that you were on, so you never really lose the friendship, it just goes on haitus for a while. Examples? When I was leveling through Valkurm on my whm at level 10, I always remember leveling with Monchichi (don't remember the job), Ratita (on whm), Yanzi (don't remember the job) and Sparky (on brd). At 40 I remember learning haste and was partied with Sparkles, a taru blm, that everyone kept calling he, and it was really pissing her off ("What kind of guy names himself Sparkles?") Then around 45 or so, I remember going through Crawler's Nest with Justie and some other DestoyersCircles members, as well as Grayswander. I never talked to Gray after that until he just joined OH not too long ago. It doesn't mean much, but I thought it was kind of interesting. Even though there are perceived rivalries, most of you guys will still be friends when it comes down to it.
If you see me walking around town still, it is Delite, not me. He now owns my account.
Anyhow, I'll sum it up with this quote (in case you don't know, IRC is internet chat):
<Entomorph> blazemore, I know you
<Entomorph> oldskewl emu guy right?
<blazemore> heh yeah
<Apoc> irc is just wierd
<Apoc> no where else can you run into old friends that you have never met
I've quit the game before, and have even given all of my stuff away one of those times, but this time I am gone for good. In regards to the quote, we will meet again, I'm sure.
