Sorry I posted this under flame board by mistake.

I have taken an interest to lvl my Rdm. I manage to lvl it up to 55. I play rdm/blm most of the time unless I am a fulltime healer then its rdm/whm. At lvl 55 I have noticed that my debuffs are being resisted more and more. I started noticing it in kuftal tunnel lvl 52+. I do use equip macro switch. I do have a question regarding specific debuffs.
When casting these debuffs what gear should I have?
Spell Gear?
Dia = mnd? don't think its ever resisted... i might be wrong
Bio = Int? don't think its ever resisted... i might be wrong
Para = mnd?
Blind = Int?
Slow = mnd?
Gravity = Int?
Frost, Choke,Shock... etc = Int?
This is on top of enfeebling + gear btw

Should I follow a rule? whm enfeebling spells = mnd gear and blm enfeebling spells = Int gear to lessen the resistance of the mob?

Thank you,
Daremo aspiring RDM/BLM :wink: get it? :lol:

Those are based on elemental magic skill, and that looks about right.

Any whm enfeeb is based on MND any blm is based on INT..

Just to add, yeh, Bio and Dia can't be resisted. But if one is cast, then the other, it'll cancel the first one.

I think I read somewhere as we hit our 50s and 60s the resist rates starts to become like 25% at our 50s and and about 50% in our 60s. But I too have noticed gravity started to being resisted and a few others Ive never had trouble with. Now my numbers arent exactly accurate I just remember reading something similar to that.

odon is correct about enfeeb basis. i noticed my enfeebs getting resisted alot more once i hot 50 in ther boyhada tree. (effin crabs)

Elemental seal will become your friend more so now. if there is a perticuler enfeeb spell u want to land. i used to use it solely for MB's but i cant quite as often now. but u arent doing anything wrong persay. it just the stronger the mobs get the more they'll resist u. naturalness. just keep hitting em with it.

you said something about an equip switching macro

does that include Ele staves?

Wind staff boosts Gravity
but weakens Paralyze

Like wise with an Ice staff, enhances Paralyze but weakens Gravity

just my 2 cents listening to mages in my shell talk about this stuff

Thanks

hmm. I know little about elemental staves. I use light for curing and dark for resting (if I get a chance >.<) Can anyone expand more on the Staves effects?

Thank you,
Daremo

I've had dia resisted in Ulegrande Range or whatever... stupid spell shield that the Eye thing put up... ><

It can't be RESISTED, but the atk down/def down/hp drain won't stick if it does 0 dmg.

I take 0 all the time and it sticks on me..

Wind Staff for Silence as well. BLM enemies aren't that friendly, especially when they break out the big time -ga spells or want to use some Ancient magic on your tank.

I have been doing some looking and I THINK that WHM debuffs MIGHT be affected by CHR. As of right now I have no solid proof, but otherwise I would say MND for crap like Paralyze and slow.

likewise.

/em {Double Slap}s Tymon.

Hmm well I'm working on buying the staves now, so far I got the dark light and Ice. My question is say I'm casting Aero II, would it be wiser to use the Wind Staff or the Ice Staff. Also if somecould give me a link or list to use what staff with which speel I'd be thankful.

Paralyze= Ice Staff
Slow = Earth Staff
Gravity = Wind Staff
Silence = Wind Staff
Dia = Light Staff
Bio = Dark Staff
Blind = Dark Staff
Nukes = Use the corresponding staff (Aero=Wind for example)

/em {Double Slap}s Tymon.

/em Triple Slaps Ishaela and Zaltana.

It NEVER sticks on me when it does 0 dmg, but if it does 1+, it sticks.

This is just what happens on me, I don't know about you.

Thank you Damita

Great Info guys!

Thank you for all the responses :D

If there are more infomation to share please post more. I don't want to suck as a rdm :P

Also how true is "post 30 no more sword in exp pt?" - I understand everyone will have a different view. I want to know if staying with the mages will be more benificial to the pt or whacking stuff at higher lvls?

thanks
Daremo

If you want to use a sword you are free to, but the effectivness of it becomes drastically reduced. You will also be finding less and less time to where you will not be switching back to your club(pre50s) or Staves(post 51) making it much more likely for your to actually whack your target with one of those.

The area effects at this point become much nastier as well, making it that much more important to keep everyone who doesn't NEED to be up next to the monster out of range.

Once you get refresh, getting slowed becomes a huge pain when keeping your refresh cycle going. And unless you are keeping yourself hasted this can impact things pretty feircely.

Overall, the biggest reason most say to not use sword is because of the greater alternatives from a staff or club, and the increased potentcy of monser's area effects.
