Hi guys ^^

I've been scouring wiki trying to find some definitive guide to Rng gear and keep coming up blank. Part of my problem is that my other jobs are Bst and Blm, where the gear's all pretty straightforward, and Rng doesn't seem to work that way. I mean, I'd think the basic breakdown is something like this:

Racc >> Ratt >> STR <<>> AGI

but there doesn't even seem to be a consensus on that.

I'm only level 25 right now, and trying to plan ahead for the big purchases. Does anyone know of a concise breakdown of gear for the leveling Rng? I'm looking for something more than what wiki has to offer, which appears to be mostly the gear a Rng can equip, not necessarily the gear they should.

Thanks in advance for your advice! ^^

I just hit 62 ranger a while ago so my word by no means final but your gear kind of shifts as you level. The lower levels you want more RAcc since you get less from traits and your skill isn't usually capped so hitting is of highest importance. RAcc is good, but I also stacked a bit of AGI since 2 agi = 1 racc as well as being a WS dmg modifier. Then when I felt i was hitting consistently I moved to RAtt and Str. Granted your pieces of equipment pre 50 are pretty limited. Things like Emp. Pin and Leaping boots are solid till AF (Strider/Trotter if you can get them, being only 1 less agi than Leaping boots you wont notice much of a difference but god damn do they make pulling a breeze). I went with Ranger Necklace over PCC too just for the fact that there isnt a lot of lower level Ratt+ gear so I couldnt justify spending 2mil on 5 Racc.

Then for armor its pretty much stack Agi and Str where you can. I used the Agi+3 earrings x2 and always used RAcc rings, and when Acc got solid would swap in Str rings for WS. You'll pretty much rock Noct+1 until AF for body gear. Before 30 there is an NM in one of the windy zones that drops a +1 agi body that you can use with the +1 agi head, or just rock the +1 agi mage body too, either way you wont notice much of a difference. Back is Nomads Mantle until like mid 50s when Thunder Mantle comes into play or something like that, one that has +6 RAcc i believe. Basically it goes: W/e gear you want -> Noct+1 -> AF -> Endgame gear.

Weapons are pref. too. It always felt like I put out more dmg with Holy bolts until i got to EBow at 55 (1400 Sidewinders on colibri yes please), but bow stayed pretty much on xbows ass dmg waise, so either works. Higher per dmg shot with bow but faster shots and holy dmg on xbow... take your pick. I liked pulling with Acid to drop the mobs Def, then pounding with Holy, seemed to be more beneficial to the party and keep the dmg on.

My gear setup for the mid-late 30s was

RNG/NIN
Main: Hawker's Knife (+1)
Sub: Hawker's Knife (+1)
Ranged: Zamburak +1
Ammo: Holy Bolts
Head: Emp. Pin
Neck: Rangers Neck
Ear1: Drone Earring
Ear2: Drone Earring
Body: Noct +1
Hands: Noct +1
Ring: Horn Ring +1
Ring: Horn Ring +1
Back: Nomad's Mantle +1
Waist: Mercenary Captain's Belt
Legs: Noct+1
Feet: Trotter Boots

Hopefully that gives a decent idea of what stats I was using. Then as I leveled I'd swap out the Rings/Earrings for higher lvl equivalents, Noct for AF and upgraded weapons (can switch to Rng/War and go Fire Staff/Grip in the mid 50s as well). Also for food as you probably know, pot-au-feu is beast. Depending on your partys you'll already probably be pulling hate but pop one of those bad boys and shits done.

TL;DR ver: I wouldnt really say there is a set order of attributes and it changes as you go along, with less RAcc being needed at higher levels as well as more gear becoming available. You'll basically just use Noct until AF as your main gear and until probably the 50s I would say my order of stats were RAcc > Agi >= RAtt > Str with Ratt and Str becoming more prominent later on.
